I agree, I learned a lot from that video just now. Also, it led me to this video of Paul Gilbert giving some useful metronome tips: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpoUrMgRFd0

The pile of guitars is shown around the 1:40 mark, when he is talking about them all. Also, here is Dweezil Zappa showing off his guitars, including the strat Hendrix set on fire.

You guys have decent small studios, but this was my first studio set-up ever. by ducttape36in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense. I understand what I have isn't professional grade, I just wanted to make sure I didn't waste my money.

Hah, no I'm not trying to advertise. I thought it might look that way, but I couldn't come up with a way to ask that didn't sound like I was defending it. I actually started listing the rest of my gear to prove that I'm not advertising for a single company, but then it just started looking like I was trying to advertise for them too.

Why are the Tascams nearly useless? I'm genuinely curious, as I recently purchased a DP-004 to start learning on.

Ukulele. Also, you can get some interesting sounds if you clip a contact mic onto an instrument to record its vibrations. It works best if you can plug it into something with distortion or other effects. This is the one I bought:

I was listening to Big Rock Candy Mountain the other day and noticed Harry McClintock calls it the Blig Rock Candy Mountain at one point.
