Is it possible that creatures such as megalodon still exist in the deep sea? by doyoulikecanopybedsin askscience

Sorry, I don't. Wasn't recently though, might have seen it on tv.

Michelangelo - Buri at Infamous Studio, Stockholm by ReverendBizarrein tattoos

Nice! Would you say they're good at color tattoos there? I want to do a space sleeve and have been thinking about where in Stockholm to have it done.

Yeah I thought about that too. But often when someone lists a myriad of things he or she can do I get the impression that he or she isn't very good at all of those things and only decent at them. I don't want a potential new client to think "why would I choose that person for the job when I need someone who is the best at this one thing?". If I write a BS blanket title they can still ask me what I do and I can explain what I do and for what companies so they understand the level I am at. An icon or a word won't get the professionalism across I think. Plus it clutters the business card.

Hm, "specialist" sounds rather specific. But when I google the term "Media Design Specialist" I find this:

"Under general direction, designs, develops, maintains and produces a variety of educational Web sites, multimedia, graphics, animation, and audio and video production to support client and program needs; performs related duties as required."

Which is pretty close to what I am. Good one!

Which one though? Roger Moore isn't exactly Daniel Craig. I prefer Sean Connery myself but I can't sing "underneath the mango tree" quite like he did.

I have been playing around with Creative Consultant. It just doesn't seem all that hands-on you know? It seems like I have a suit and get people in weird modern pants, plastic sunglasses and limited edition sneakers to do things for me. But maybe I'm over thinking it?

When I run into cosplayers, I life to pose them for pics doing mundane stuff...I present "Stormtrooper Impatiently waits for ATM"... by Le0Regulusin pics

[–]eyewoo 6 points7 points ago

I like the idea very much, it goes against the whole cosplay thing when you pull the players back into real life but in costume, it is very intriguing. Maybe you don't have any aspirations as a photographer and like to give your photos artsy titles, but your execution needs some work to be honest. The Chun-li smoking is just not happening at all. There are plenty of pointers I could give you but considering where I would start it feels like you should take a beginners photography class instead, it would be worth it, I promise you! Shooting unique photos won't make them any better if they aren't that good to begin with. Just some examples, bleeding brightness, lack of depth, bad focus, bland angles, messy background and surroundings, douchebag smiling into the camera.. Basically your photos look more like snapshots in the moment than you posing cosplayers like you want them. So if that is what you did (posing them), you need to work on it. As I said I like the idea but I have no experience with cosplayers so I don't know if this hasn't been done already and if your photos truly are unique. Hope you take more pics and evolve the idea.

I don't mean to come off as an asshole even though I might sound like one but I'd like to see more of your "cosplayers doing mundane stuff" album to believe this is anything more than you seeing a funny situation and snapping a pic of it with your iphone. I really would like to see more!

Philip K. Dick's letter on the impact of the Blade Runner movie onto science fiction by psYberspRe4Ddin scifi

Makes me a bit sad that it took so many years for Blade Runner to become "one hell of a commercial success" and that Dick didn't get a chance to see it.

Wil Wheaton admiring an awesome portrait of Wesley Crusher by PalermoJohnin startrek

[–]eyewoo 1 point2 points ago

It's like one of those Royal-Asian-country-family photos where the artist tries to make the royal-asian-family member look more white than he is because that is a good thing apparently, to them. But then Wil is already white, and not asian, so the artist has made him more white-asian instead.

I saw a documentary about giant squids where they showed pictures from the bottom of an aircraft carrier that had suction marks bigger than any squid ever measured. They theorized that (super) giant squids frequently hitch rides on ships to go long distances while conserving energy.

8.7 Earthquake outside Indonesia by subwayboyin worldnews

[–]eyewoo 1 point2 points ago

15cm, 85cm, this means nothing. The height of a tsunami isn't what is devastating. It is in all practicality length and mass that makes up a tsunamis devastating impact.

If the earthquake does not produce a tsunami I still bet we are going to see a large crime wave of burglaries and property theft.

According to cnn there was second earthquake two hours after the first. Was that also a strike-slip earthquake?

I hate myself for not buying the swimsuit when blackmilk released it. My wife woulda been awesome in it. But I read later that the fabric is really crappy and starts to disintegrate after just a few swims/washes. It seems that was the biggest reason why they didn't print more after the initial stock was sold out.

Lager basically tastes the same. Without labels people can't identify their favourite brand. Stop having massive bitches at (fosters, budweiser... etc) by onlyothernameleftin science

I actually thought this comment would bring me downvotes. I love american beer. Denver and Portland had some of the best beer I've ever had. Granted, most weren't lager though. But the amount of micro breweries in the states is just fantastic for a beer lover. Most americans I've met know nothing of beer and drink only american "goats piss" (what non-americans often call american beer, like bud, coors, pbr and so on..)

(edit) Oh, I DID get downvotes, carry on.
