Can't you just get a bus to LaGrange road and walk across the tracks, down UPS drive and you'll be at your office?

I've always wondered about playing in Macau. What is different about it? Do all the players and dealers speak English? Are there any etiquette differences?

Reddit I need your opinion. There was a big argument last night in my house because of a controversial hand. $100+ pot. by nasp30in poker

[–]ewingfield 1 point2 points ago

I usually run my home games as close to casino rules as possible and the casino near me says that your hand speaks for itself. Unless the guy with KQ said "Fold" his hand should be live because the hand speaks for itself. It was an angle by the guy with AQ and you should watch this guy if he ever comes back to your house. He might also be inexperienced. Either way, you need let the dealer or host make this decision and it needs to be final and as close to casino rules as possible.

I'm no expert.. but I think that this just proves that we don't need SOPA or PIPA to police pirated content. It looks as if the current laws are doing a good enough job as it is.

31 outs with 4 cards to come. by SockBramsonin poker

[–]ewingfield 0 points1 point ago

i should have been more clear... i was talking about playing the J7 preflop. You need a stronger hand to call than to raise with so I thought he should have either went all in or folded pre flop that way he didn't have to make a decision like he was faced with on the flop.. Once the guy min bets on the flop.. bells and whistles are going off in my head. It almost seems like that bet is there to induce an all in from the opponent.

I'm a big proponent of going with your gut. If your gut told you to ship with j7 because your read said he was super weak, this might have been a good option.

Knowing what his hand is after you told the story makes it easy for me to Monday morning QB.

I feel like you countered a bad play with a bad play. The J7 is either an all in.. or a fold. I'm a nit, I woulda folded but I don't mind the shove if you are certain he has what he actually had.

The thing is... do you think Qx is in his calling range if you shove? I do.

The 56 is fine.. You had to call. just unlucky.

Early in a $500 tourney at the bellagio, I had to fold a straight flush. Very different circumstances than listed above. 5 way pot on the turn. Board is 4567 (all diamonds), I have Ac 3d. I bet, it gets raised, called, called, all in. I'm just certain that the ALL-IN has an 8 of diamonds. He's the tightest nittiest player in the game and he has to have a HUGE hand to make that play or else he has to fold. What can he bluff/represent on a board like that?

Sure enough, I tossed my hand.. feeling like I had the info I needed... and sure enough, nitty mcnitterson rolled over 9c 8d and the guy who called him showed Ad 9d. He was a russian guy that played WAYYY too fast. It was like he didn't even consider the fact that there were 2 cards that an opponent could have that had him drawing dead. He comes out and says.. I thought he was overplaying a set. lol.

In poker, I dont think too much about the value of my hand. I think about whether or not I'm beat. You do what works for you. Ive made some awful folds and while this had the potential to be an awful fold, I went with my gut and I was right. I wish I could say I was always right.

damn that's disgusting. after 4-5 raises tho, don't you start to wonder whether or not an opponent has you beat?

[–]ewingfield[S] 3 points4 points ago

hell yea! thanks man... I might start one... and I'm sorry if I'm the only one who has about a million questions.

I just started playing live poker last year but i had played online poker since 2005. Honestly, black friday is what brought me out of my online poker cocoon. Probably the best thing to ever happen to me. I won/chopped 9 live tourneys last year, final tabled a circuit event, and bubbled the circuit main event after getting it in preflop w/ 10 bb AK vs A8. Ugh. Those are the highlights of my poker career.

If you would be kind enough to answer, I have 5 ama questions about the wsop field.

1) Day one, hours 1-8... What was your table like? Tight, aggro? Did you have any buddies playing? Were their tables different from yours?

2) Maybe I'm naive (i detailed my poker career highlights above and I've never played a 10k event) but it seems like ANYONE who has 10k to throw around for the WSOP has to be semi decent at poker. However, I hear all the time that the ME is full of fish/it being a minefield. What was your experience?

3) I typically play live tournaments between the 150-500 buyin range... and I've played at the venetian deep stack and wsop ce this past year... Have you ever played in any of those events and how does the competition level compare in those tourneys to the WSOP me?

4) What is your mindset going into each day 1, day 2, day 3... What was your mindset around the bubble?

5) I watch poker on tv as much as I can. If you do this, or have done this.... Do you feel like this gives you an edge when/if you have a confrontation with a previously televised pro?

6) What rules do you like/dislike about the ME, given that you have played in it.

7) Do you play pro? What do pros do with all their money when they bink a huge tourney... I'm talking about... when they get paid at the cage... I wouldn't care to carry around a few Gs... but surely after a 50-100k cash... you don't ask for it all in $100 bills... or do you?

8) Do you have a coach? a poker group of friends you talk about hands with? Do you ever run into poker players you've seen at the WSOP at casinos near you (if you live outside of LV)

Maybe thats 8 questions.. sorry! but i could keep going and going. Im gonna try to satalite into the series next year. Wish me luck!
