[college-level media law class] I'm writing a paper on SOPA, PIPA and CISPA... what should I include? by emwynn136in HomeworkHelp

[–]emwynn136[S] 0 points1 point ago

I do actually have access to EBSCO, and will start searching there. But the more recent something is, the harder it is to find information. (Other than news articles, I mean.) I will probably touch on the fact that internet censorship bills have never been successful because, invariably, parts of them infringe on constitutional rights.

As for the MLA citation, I'm not sure... but I imagine it's something like the acronym in parentheses...

That's awesome! Did it hurt there? I have a tattoo, and would like another one, but I didn't do well with the pain haha. I was thinking about getting the three stars from the books' pages there... but I'm not sure.

To those complaining about not having read the books. by sneckoin gameofthrones

I can attest to an overloaded schedule in college... They do actually exist. Try being in class 18 hours a week, interning 16 hours a week, working at least 12 at work-study, and being the editor of the weekly paper. College is a bitch. Plus homework. That's well over a 40 hour work week, more along the lines of 60 or more.

But, I am still finding time to read. When there's a will there's a way.

I want to punch her in the face even more now that I'm in the midst of reading the first book... by emwynn136in gameofthrones

All valid points. Her character is wonderfully written. I think any character that is able to produce strong emotions like annoyance (Sansa) or hatred (Cersei, Joffery) is incredible. And just the fact GRRM was able to produce such a preteen whiny voice is impressive.

I do promise to give Sansa a chance. (I actually really hope she comes to her senses soon!) And I'm glad you see my points... I was afraid I was being a little too harsh on her for a bit. But since it's my first reading, I you should cut me some slack too, right? ;)

Arya is even younger, and she seems to have her head on straight. Robb is only 15 and has a whole lot more sense, too. Every kid is younger in the books and only Sansa bugs me more.

Book Spoiler (kinda)

I get your points, but I think she should have a little more respect for her father... he knew best, and she just thought he was out to ruin her life. Because she's 11 she might not understand that, but it doesn't make her any less annoying. At least at this point in the series.

Well, as I mentioned, I'm only in book one. I only meant to emphasize how annoying she is in the book -- even more so than the show, IMO.

EDIT: and fwiw, I am hoping she will redeem herself in the next few books... and given the few comments I got, it looks like she will.

What this subreddit feels like to someone who hasn't read the books. (No spoilers) by G_Julius_Caesarin gameofthrones

[–]emwynn136 2 points3 points ago

I agree -- I'm working my way through the first book slowly, but I feel like everyone has read all of them, which I don't have time to do.

They really should take most of the book discussion to the other subreddit. Then the large amount of new fans wouldn't feel as left out.

Recommendations for good biographies? by absinthe_robettein books

A really good autobiography is "Mao's Last Dancer". It's about a young boy who gets chosen to dance for China's national ballet company, but later defects. It's fascinating, and wonderfully written.
