My advice if you don't feel like travelling: get started in some improv. London's improv scene is JUST starting to be on the up and up, and there's tons of opportunities to get involved. I'm not sure how outgoing you are or how much you like acting, but from my experience learning and doing improv is one of the better ways to get out of your comfort zone as well as learn some positive lessons about interaction you can take into your life. Try to go see some shows at the Spontaneity Shop or The Miller, as both have fantastic improv sets, and then see if you're up for a full course.
