TROPHY CASE

Blasphemy! by atomic-zin canada

[–]eccentriclady 8 points9 points ago

I moved to Canada and my favorite candy bar is Almond Joy. They only sell Mounds here, with the exception of a single gas station which makes a trip down to Seattle twice a year to buy candy bars, specifically Almond Joy. I go there just for this. It is important to note that they apologize for not having more when I buy it.

Do any published writers here use pen names? by GoldenJoelin writing

I don't for the nonfiction I sell to your grandma... But for other things I do have a pen name.

So, all this Self-Publishing got me thinking... by SinSlayerin writing

The Author's Guild is adding a new category for membership that allows self-published authors in if they make a certain amount of money. Of course, they haven't said yet what that is. I think that it will be a problematic way of weeding through. I almost think there needs to be ebook review site so that the world could make its own standard. Maybe the truly good stuff could earn a badge of honour.

Does self publishing hurt your mainstream publishing chances? by gwynerin writing

See my comment to ghostwoods, but I just wanted to add that there's not much information about this because as soon as a successful published author (there are unsuccessful ones too) mentions the leap from self-publishing to a publisher there is all of this controversy. They get inundated with emails wanting help to 'break in' and also criticism from other writers. They deal with so much other criticism and pr anyways that it's not worth their time to mention it.

This is untrue. Publishers troll Lulu for the successfully marketed books and pick them up routinely. You don't hear about it because contracts require the self-published book go out of print and the new book often has a different title. I know this because it happened to me.

No one ever thinks to go to Canada in their last hours. We're really nice and we would serve you tea plus you're likely to live longer.

OK Reddit. Let's cut out the karma-whoring Christmas present posts right from the start here by shoving them all into this thread. What is the coolest thing you got for Christmas? by [deleted]in AskReddit

[–]eccentriclady 0 points1 point ago

I got three tea sets and an antique Chinese box full of tea. I said offhandedly once that I wanted a teapot collection and my husband remembered. He won Christmas this year.

I wish I could have heard the conversation in the Oval office about this.

"Now I... would like to know.... what kind of muffin... costs $16."
