Without knowing your height and weight it's a shot in the dark but have you considered that you may not be eating enough calories?

I transport exotic and unusual shipments for FedEx. AMA by DavidLangein IAmA

HDs are much more expensive than tapes. Those ideas work fine for home/small business. I am more referring to enterprise scale disaster recovery.

Many companies keep weekly and monthly archives, so tape give you the ability to physically put something away in a drawer and say "that is my Dec.31 2011 backup". DVD doesn't give you the needed capacity and BD is too expensive.

Off site tape backup is the de facto backup method for large companies. RAID doesn't help if the server farm burns down.

Question about beer? by Smy90in loseit

[–]drwatson 0 points1 point ago

I usually skip a meal if I know I'm going to be drinking. You have a few options: set a limit for yourself on how often you will drink, drink fewer beers when you do, drink higher ABV beers (a questionable compromise), or switch to Jack and Diet Coke.

Use a calorie counting app like MyFitnessPal put everything you eat in there and be completely honest about the amount you are eating. Like everyone else, you will be amazed how much you are over-eating, and this will allow you to find your problem areas.

Lars von Trier's 'Melancholia' -- interpretations, general thoughts? by honeytrapin movies

[–]drwatson 2 points3 points ago

I just watched the movie last night. Although it had its flaws, the ending made it worthwhile- one of the most powerful movie endings I have ever seen. The surrealism and cinematography reminded me of The Fall.

Melancholia question: spoilers inside! by Lilac_678in movies

[–]drwatson 8 points9 points ago

If you look at the one diagram that Justine tries to print, I believe it shows the planets having a near miss then coming together again and colliding in a sort of double loop. So Melancholia did drift away but only briefly.

Redditors, what are your views regarding the existence of intelligent life somewhere else in the universe? by bigdaddy_dieselin AskReddit

[–]drwatson 0 points1 point ago

Due to the number of stars and planets in the universe, it is illogical to believe that there isn't life elsewhere. With that in mind, space is so mind-boggling huge is it unlikely we will ever meet. If alien life ever makes it to Earth, they would have to be much more advanced than us because they likely would have to use some form of FTL travel (wormhole, warp bubble).

So I was forced to pull my sidearm today... by [deleted]in guns

[–]drwatson 2 points3 points ago

The prevailing reasoning is that if you don't shoot to kill then you do not believe that your life is in danger, therefor you should not have shot at all. (The only justification for use of deadly force is if you believe your life is threatened) The worst thing you can do legally is fire a warning shot or attempt a non lethal shot.
