Nnnnope. The time to start is at the beginning of the electoral cycle, when a campaign can be taken seriously, grow and make a real difference to the political landscape. Not just before the polling station doors open, when it’s an infantile yell, and only benefits the party counting on the lowest turnout, i.e. the party least deserving of a win.

The problem is that some misguided voting let in the first term of the most disastrous presidency in the US’s history.

It opened the door to the ‘security services’ staring fixedly in the wrong direction through 2001, the Iraqi invasion on entirely trumped-up and false pretences, the cynical monetisation of warmogery, the banking collapse and the deaths of countless servicemen and innocent civilians.

That’s the problem.

Independent voting, thinking out your own electoral strategy is a superb idea. But if you do, you’re responsible for THINKING THROUGH THE CONSEQUENCES. Yes, defeat the two-party lockup, but don’t start on polling day.
