Best piece of homebrewing advice you ever received? by skaggs77in Homebrewing

It is very hard to ruin a beer. Be patient, let the beer magic do its work, you may end up with something very special to reward you for your patience.

Help coming up with beer names for a baby shower by hobbes487in Homebrewing

I once saw someone make a beer to celebrate the birth of a baby named Abigail. The beer was called ABigAle.

Some of the bs I hear about Obama is just ridiculous (food stamp president, birthers claims, the radical socialist muslim terrorist that wants to steal your precious guns)

  1. Administration Raids medical marijuana dispenseries.
  2. Engaged in more wars and increased troop levels in Afghanistan.
  3. Re signed the PATRIOT act with no changes
  4. Signed NDAA
  5. Supported Bailouts

I could go on. There are legitimate complaints from people of all backgrounds on Obama. Do I hate him? No. Do I think he's doing what he thinks is right? Yes. Do I think he'd be cool to hang out with? Probably. Will I vote for him? No.

Keezer vs. Kegerator by ToddPEIin Homebrewing

[–]dontspamjay 0 points1 point ago

You cut a hole in the top and screw on the tower. There are tons of conversion guides online.

The point is, once you cut the hole, it is no longer a mini-fridge.

Did the conversation result in any alternative stand?

Keezer vs. Kegerator by ToddPEIin Homebrewing

[–]dontspamjay 1 point2 points ago

I have a kegerator that I built. I prefer the look of a kegerator with a tower, but the main reason I went this route is that we need to keep it in the house and I don't have room for even the smallest freezer.

You can convert a keezer back to a freezer, but once you make a kegerator it's permanent.

Kegerator would give you more room and the ability to use it as a fermentation chamber.

Kegerators have trouble cooling the tap tower sometimes.

You'll be happy either way...

Property Tax Appeal by cmr8305in personalfinance

[–]dontspamjay 1 point2 points ago

I live in Texas and appeal my property taxes online every year. They always settle and reduce them.

Has anyone tried one of these with their mini-kegs? by elabuzzin Homebrewing

[–]dontspamjay 0 points1 point ago

I'd go with a tap a draft setup if I were in your shoes.

Either way, your husband will be happy you're putting in so much effort on his behalf.

  3. Save for Down Payment

If Ron Paul doesn't get this I am not voting for MITT! by derekdickersonin ronpaul

[–]dontspamjay 1 point2 points ago

I'm not voting for Romney or Obama. I don't know if I should go Gary Johnson or write in Ron Paul. I wish Paul would make his wishes known if he doesn't get the nomination. I would like to see his supporters united in who they vote for, not split between different candidates and non-voters.

Questions About Carbonating in Keg by xariousin Homebrewing

[–]dontspamjay 2 points3 points ago

I force carb and there is almost no sediment.

Carbing with priming sugar causes the yeast to begin multiplying again which increases sediment.

Questions About Carbonating in Keg by xariousin Homebrewing

[–]dontspamjay 1 point2 points ago

If you carbonate with priming sugar you will have some sediment in the bottom of the keg. If you're cool with a little sediment, then it's no big deal. If you don't want it you can pour off the first few glasses to reduce it, or trim your keg's dip tube to be above the sediment level.

Personally I force carb. Put a blanket of CO2 on the beer by burping the headspace and then disconnect it from the gas. Chill the beer and then reattach the gas at about 30psi for 24 hours. Disconnect the gas and burp all the gas out of the keg, reset the regulator to serving pressure (10psi usually for me) and reattach the gas.

I have never seen the appeal to an aquatic car. You end up with a crappy car combined with a crappy boat.

I always ask who their favorite football team is. Then I say, if you knew they weren't going to win the super bowl, would you stop supporting them?

Voting is like cheering for your favorite team, not like picking the winning horse at the track.

Sanitary Racking withOUT Oxygen by JBHowatin Homebrewing

[–]dontspamjay 3 points4 points ago

I think it's interesting and it's a clever approach.

Having said that, I don't think it's worth the effort. I have never experienced any issues with oxygenation or contamination using my current methods. If I had problems, I would give this a try to solve them, but I don't.

I see how some people aren't for animal rights. Some of the things touted as rights are screwy, but I can't see how anyone could condone animal cruelty.
