Being from GA, I'd really like to see that UGA plate around here. I'd be getting one once it was available.

Can't make it that night, but I like the music. Play some stuff near Ft. Worth on the weekends and I will be there for sure! Good luck and I hope the turnout is big.

No UGA. I'm dissapointed. Surely they are a better team than Auburn or UNC.

Dallas Braden pitches a perfect game against the Rays by danchan22in sports

[–]dlachanc 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Fun fact: Dallas Braden, over the course of his career, had allowed 6.9 hits per 27 batters, 2.0 walks per 27 batters, and 0.2 reached on errors per 27 batters. Overall, that’s 9.1 runners allowed per 27 batters – his numbers for this season alone are similar. According to a basic binomial distribution, the odds of Braden allowing no runners in 27 batters, as he did on Sunday, are .00001517, or 0.001517%. Braden’s perfect game wasn’t quite one-in-a-million. It was more like 15.2 in a million.

Colleyville man tries to kill his ex-wife with a bomb made from salad bowls. by Lorakin Dallas

Haha, the bomb was mailed to my neighborhood. The cops were sitting on a street for most of the day near the pond that I fish. Turns out the guy used to come into the bar that I go to regularly and one of my friends has the guys business card. That's kind of funny to me.

What is your favourite horror film? by asparagusmanin horror

[–]dlachanc 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

It may not be a pure horror film, but the psychologically horrifying aspects of the film Bug (2006) make it to the top of my list. I cannot really classify this movie into one category because you can include a few genres that it can loosely fit such as mind-bender, thriller, and suspenseful, but it has some horror type aspects when the movie dives into the human mind and how maddening the two main characters become. I guess it could kind of be classified in the same vein as In the Mouth of Madness (2004) and somewhat on the level of Cube (1997).

It is worth checking out if you ever get the chance. I know it was on Netflix instant queue for a little bit, but I'm not sure if it still is.

John Stockton: 1st in Career Assists (5,100 > #2 Jason Kidd) & 1st in Career Steals (700 > #2 Michael Jordan). Yet the "Player Efficiency Rating" has him 29th all-time, behind luminaries like Dirk Nowitski, Yao Ming, and Amare Stoudemire. Are B+ big men really better than possibly the best PG ever? by Taughtologyin sports

[–]dlachanc 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

True, assists always mean points, but think of how many shots a game that Yao and Dirk and other top big men can alter in the course of a game. You can combine that with blocks and rebounds (and lots of points for a few of them). Assists are very important to the game, but it seems like the top performers in this category today (Rondo, Nash, Kidd just to name a few), seem to be compromised of mostly PGs which can limit their role and value.

But back to PER talk - it is mostly an offensive grading system. You can't measure other important factors of a player using the system such as hustle, durability, and a lot of things left up to mostly opinion. It may be one cause for Stockton to be so low. Basketball is hard to use stats on, unlike baseball or football, because there are so many factors that are hard to measure concretely and which the PER cannot be a true judge of. I cannot argue that Stockton is one of the best, if not the best PG, to play the game, and it's unfortunate that he is rated lower than some players that are only B+'s. I think it comes down to position mostly.

I believe in today's game I would take Dirk or Yao over Stockton. I think that a very good big man is better than a great small man. This hasn't always been the case, but the way the league has been trending big men are the most important players. Unless it's Kobe because he can score from anywhere.

It's the Bible Belt my friend. I wouldn't count on being one of the last states (if it ever comes to it) to legalize, but I don't expect us to be doing anything along the lines of the west coast, Colorado, and New Jersey any time soon. I think it all really comes down to when all of these old people are going to die along with their traditional ideals that really are applying less and less with each generation.

It's Lee Harvey Oswald. It's a band/group and they all wear ski masks and put their stickers all over Atlanta, especially on the east side around l5p and Reynoldstown. Here is a link to their myspace which has some music and pictures up: http://www.myspace.com/misterleeharvey
