actually, that's pretty good.

if you're writing in colloquial english, you shouldn't have any problems. acadmeic english is usually where most ESL students have problems.

and depending on where you are, a good library should have a lot of books on writing in english. but be proud, most native english speakers can't write as well as you can...

but it's natural to be curious or inquisitive at what we don't understand or are not used to

double take at what? a black man holding hands with a white girl? or seeing a black man with his white daughter?

i think in some contexts you wouldn't bat an eye: if you went to a black guy's house, he says "hey, have you met my daughter, katie?" and a little white girl comes out of the bedroom? no problem.

if you saw a white girl laughing and running through the park and a large black man screaming at her and chasing her, yeah, maybe we'd all stop and call the cops...

I believe that her position is racist because I could write a long paper detailing why her position is racist.

The position assumes that "growing up black" is the most important thing for a black kid (or, more accurately, for black society).

i think that there's a huge difference between pointing out the danger of a culture disappearing and the tragedy of a culture lost and saying the Black culture is inherently better than others.

on the other hand, one could say the exact same thing of rich people. if you replace the word "white" in your comment with "rich" i would feel the exact same way as you do.

during slavery years, there were actually black slaveowners. How should we feel about them and their descendants?

i don't really think so. Even if the two groups hated each other, there is a huge difference between the rationale behind it and therefore one "racism" is more... i don't know... understandable? legitimate? sympathetic? in the current context of America, different races hating on whitey i feel is wrong, but not unjustified, if that makes sense...

or, maybe this is just my white guilt

kind of. if you hate a minority group for being different: that's racism. if you hate a group oppressing you? that's... uh... ya know... anti-oppression.

i'm not saying that black folk hating on whitey isn't racism, i'm just pointing out that racism can be one-way sometimes...
