Hmm I think flash has a lot of issue, not least the fact CS4 runs like a dog.

But one of the things that flash has always had a problem with is people use at a reason to get round the limitations of the web, many of which are there for a reason, not least UX and IA standards to make them usable.

Don't get me wrong I do like flash (I know there is a lot of people on here that don't), but like any powerful tool it's open to abuse and I think that what flash does. What things like this make it easy for designers to bypass fundamental rules in web, which I don't know if it's a good thing.

That said I know a lot designer that would be happy about this as AS3 scare the hell out of them.

Where have all the links gone?

Thank you I couldn't have put it better myself! Exactly my point! :D

Where have all the links gone?

There is enough links if people vote them up, I do company links email to educate everyone on the web. I can always find good links when I hunt around and I used to use reddit a lot for it. Their there if people want them. I'm try to post some of the good ones up as I go, but they often don't get voted up, although maybe what interests me doesn't folk on here.

Where have all the links gone?

djforth [S] 4 points5 points 9 months ago[-]

lol nice I always like people who feel the best way to go is to insult people.

But I will point out again, it is not about self.reddit per say, it is about the amount of self.reddits on the web_design reddit

Where have all the links gone?

Chill out dude, to be honest if this is what people want then I'll stop using this reddit. My point is the amount of self reddit.

Where have all the links gone?

djforth [S] 1 point2 points 9 months ago[-]

Yeah there is an option for text submission and sometimes there is a point to it, my point is there is virtually no links going up on the web_design, least not that stay on the front page. Besides not here description it say "Reddit is a source for what's new and popular on the web.", not tell me how to do something

Where have all the links gone?

Erm ok I'm a bit confused, I not arguing whether there relevent or not, simply that reddit is about sharing links and not about asking how do I do this css or something.

Where have all the links gone?

djforth [S] 2 points3 points 9 months ago[-]

Yeah but it is about the web design in particular, so I thought it was relevant

Where have all the links gone?

djforth [S] 3 points4 points 9 months ago[-]

lol as I said in my post I get the irony of doing it, but my comment is more on the amount there is. Of the 25 reddits on the front page of web design anywhere from 19-23 of them are self reddits. My point is that people are just using like a help forum, of which there are loads out there. The odd self.reddit is cool, but when there is no link on a sub reddit I think there is something very wrong.

Where have all the links gone?

djforth [S] 1 point2 points 9 months ago[-]

Yeah I do agree with you, which is the reason why I've been trying to post a few when I see something interest. But they never seem to get up there even when I think there really good, so many comments get posted on the self reddits they never seem to see the light of day.

Where have all the links gone?

djforth [S] 15 points16 points 9 months ago[-]

It's a shame, maybe we should just vote down all self posts! :P

Where have all the links gone?

djforth [S] 4 points5 points 9 months ago[-]

Well I guess, but the whole point of reddit I thought was post links that you think people are interested in and then they can up/down vote and comment on. If people are interested in 24 examples of the colour blue then cool, because at least it a link. Of course I don't so I'd down vote but that's the point
