TROPHY CASE

I also would like to say that 10 started to change, notably in his last series and on Water of Mars, 10 decided he was in charge.

I did, indeed, but I am also playing around with paraview. Do you know a way to display vorticity?

I am working on a larger project to examine flow in human bronchial tubes. We are testing out the capabilities of our flow solver because it is generally used for very different applications. This is just a simple bifurcation and we are wanting to match physical results of a similar experiment before moving on to a more complex/more realistic model of the human bronchial tree.

It is remarkably cost effective. Simulations can be run for a multitude of scenarios, allowing for redesigns and detection of problems early in the design process. With computers getting more powerful, it just gets more and more attractive each year.

Thanks for the advice. I haven't had classes from him yet, but I have taken note of this for the future.

Well I am sorry if I offended. I do know that the program is strong though; I think that UTC poached the majority of our CFD staff from there, and a lot of our programs were born there.

It might be Mississippi State. I am not sure. I just followed my adviser's advice, and after talking with people from the program at UTC and seeing the city, I knew it was where I wanted to go.

I recommend it. With CFD growing as quickly as it is, companies are looking for more competitive candidates that won't require as much training. I am going to The National SimCenter at UTC, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. It was recommended over MIT by my undergrad adviser. Other good programs are at Ole Miss and Stanford too, I think.

Yes and no. Newcomers are always welcome, but the company is a Master's program. All the students work for the university doing research and contracts that we get from the government or other interested parties. Most students get tuition waivers and a stipend that is hefty enough that it could be considered a salary.

It is the first step in a study of airflow in human lungs. We are just testing how a simple bifurcation acts in our flow solver, seeing if it can match simple results before moving on to more complex simulations.

I think it is about time we accept the possibility of a female Doctor, especially one played by John Cleese. by Kogknightin doctorwho

That is awesome. I love little fun stuff about the show like that. My favorite fun fact is that Douglas Adams, the author of Hithciker's, wrote several Doctor Who Episodes under a pen name. And the last installment of Hitchiker's, with the Crikket robots, was supposed to be a Doctor Who Episode: Slartibartfast = Doctor, Bistromath - Tardis, and Crikket Robots = Daleks.

Helen Mirren has said many times that she wants to play the doctor. I don't know if she is the best choice, but I would LOVE a female doctor.

What's the funniest (mis?)pronunciation of an engineering term you've heard come out of a prof or TA? by michelkin EngineeringStudents

[–]dhrieman 0 points1 point ago

My fluids professor always pronounced kinetic energy as "ki-neck" energy. He also said "degrees Kelvin," which caused my hair to stand on end. My fluids lab instructor pronounced error as "urr-urr." I excuse that because he is from the deep south.
