Don't know if this was intentional, but I noticed something about Abed's background baby delivery by The_Final_Kickeningin community

nope, I was not at chang's birthday. I do make an "appearance" this season in the same manner as I did in season 2, but it's not in the finale. Keep your eyes peeled!

I'm actually so arrogant/narcissistic/competitive/whatever that I don't want credit for something on accident. Lately, though, when someone asks "hey did you mean for the initials of that one guy in season 1 to be the opposite end of the alphabet as the guy in season 2 so that when you add them together it spells 'ABED,'" I sometimes think, maybe the "right" thing to do is to say "yes," because this person is saying that they want to live in a world where that's possible, they're consuming the show on a different level and they want it to be good on that level, so when you tell the truth and say, "nah, that's meaningless," aren't you being just as much an asshole as if someone said it was their favorite show and you said "it shouldn't be." But then I just default to honesty-as-best-policy to be safe. I'm responding to as many of these as I can because I don't want to write.

well, it's the medium for it. That's very flattering and uplifting, crediting us with taking an important step in your life. It sounds like a healthy decision, good luck.

it might have been intentional on the part of the wardrobe department...?

I'm not the best person, I just have the best job. Thank you.

Thank you. I am obscenely nervous about the 15th and beyond. This hiatus has been the best and worst thing to happen because it awakened a sleeping giant of fandom at the exact same time it brought me to my weakest point. I am genuinely terrified by the possibility that the show's martyrdom has turned it into something that will never live up to the love the fans have for it. Every day, my stomach is in knots, and I still owe 14 pages for the video game episode (the part where they're in the video game) and it's a week past its deadline and I can't finish the pages because I want the show to be as good as people now think it is. I also can't finish the pages because I know once they're done, they're done, and season 3 is done. I've never had a job or a relationship that's lasted this long. The interaction for which you're grateful cuts two ways. It's been keeping me alive and driving me insane, like the black gooey spiderman suit or the hobbit ringy thing.

As I so often find myself saying, I WANT to just lie and seem cool but I can't.

It is true that what you're seeing unfold does include the father suspecting the baby might be Abed's. That is true. But at the time we were writing that episode, we never said, "if you think about it, the STD fair had those faulty condoms..." that was something you fans calculated, and which I embrace but for which I cannot take credit. This connection to the "hottest girl on campus" is a new one. It is equally brilliant and equally accidental.

A young lady tweeted me a couple days ago suggesting that when Pierce recites the order of his favorite marriages (in the upcoming March 15th episode, she probably saw it at Paley) that it somehow relates to the order of the timelines in the Yahtzee episode. I remember seeing a blog post featuring a photo of the cast sitting around the table and their shirts were ordered in accordance with the electromagnetic spectrum and they were speculating about the significance of that. I can't tell you how nervous it makes me to know that there are fans out there holding us to that high a standard. I guess we do bring it on ourselves when we do stuff like the Beetlejuice easter egg. Anyway, it's a great question/theory. I logged into reddit because this wouldn't have fit in twitter. Thanks for being that into what we do, we will try to continue making a show that earns it.

Hands off. She has too much to offer me as a miserable single. She can be happy when she's hacky.

Portlandia! I can't wait to see more of it, it seems really funny. Archer, Ricky Gervais Show. That's the only new stuff I've found to huff.

I have enough ideas; that's my job. And I tend to stick to Twitter for approval. It fits with my sensitive ego the best, because even the bad stuff is short. In open-ended formats, there's a license for extended analysis and speculation that, while an important aspect of the viewing experience (what good is a show that can't be discussed), and flattering in its existence, might unduly affect me; distort my perception of the audience experience. One guy can have a bad day and an axe to grind and write 70 compelling paragraphs about why the campus should be located on the moon and it's not "fair" for that guy to have more influence just because he typed more. I've dropped off in my reading of reviews for that reason, too. It's very important to me to know what people are feeling when they're watching but I think what people are thinking might be best kept out of my brain. Believe me, though, on a show with ten writers, 9 exec producers, two studios and 150 others, all of whom google and many of whom reddit, if you're talking about the show, it's trickling back. It's all in the same water table.

No. You shouldn't infer that. What you see is what happened, how it happened.

Community writers would regularly visit tvtropes, often when we would come up with an idea that seemed to easy to be new. The best example I can remember is the Pictionary game gone awry in the Family Day episode of season 1. I wanted to make sure that like 9 sitcoms in the last 3 years hadn't done Pictionary "skits." Tvtropes is perfect for that kind of thing.

To clarify, I mean I have to stop doing this NOW, not forever. Fingers tired. A lot of these questions are really great and I don't even think I've had a chance to read them all. I really appreciate your interest and I'll be back.

Okay, don't know if this is where I type this but I have to stop doing this. I'm really embarrassed and sorry that I didn't "get" the most fundamental aspect of an AMA was an all-in-one-sitting thing. I tried to make up for it with volume. Sorry sorry sorry. I'll do it right next time, or should I come back to this same one? I'll figure it out. White people problems. Got milk? Talk to the hand. Gonna go watch my girlfriend sing Metallica. I love you guys. For realz.

what (s)he said. I knew people would assume the show had a shelf life due to the scholastic circumstances, and I also knew that if I tried to fight that in season 1, there'd be nowhere to go after, whereas if we kept the camera on campus for season 1, and let people feel a shelf life, shattering that illusion would be as simple as taking weights off our ankles. Also, when we make friends, we initially know them through common circumstances and locations, and part of the drama of friendship is having your roots and branches start to tangle with other people's more and more...you see their car, you see their apartment, they see yours, you meet their families, etc. The audience was intended to feel the experience of "getting to know" the characters, first at school, then deeper, and next comes deeeeeeeper...

They're obviously equally hot but I would rather date Britta. I would feel judged by Annie, and also like I was soiling her. I like a woman with some scratches and dents.

I don't want to clown your impression of industry savvy, but nobody in "marketing" (you mean publicity) wants my dumb babbling ass talking to anybody, and nobody but redditors on twitter have ever asked me or anyone else to come here. Why would you experience something that you admittedly find enjoyable and then go out of your way, in your own mind, to fabricate a reason why it's less than enjoyable? That's really sad, brother. Smell a rose!
