The Last Temptation of Christ is a reinterpretation of the Christ story from a more human perspective. I found that by leaving out all the magical mumbo jumbo, it made the story suprisingly much more compelling.

Of course, biblical literalists are going to say it is controversial if not blasphemous. But, If you're a non-believer as I am, or an open-minded believer, I think you'll get something out of it.
