It depends.... unfortunately Organic has become green-washed to to have little of it's intended meaning. Organics grown with permaculture practices uses little to no chemicals for pests and weeds. Also check out r/permaculture~!

They are called locavores, and it is kind of a movement, like the whole "organic" thing.

HEY Reddit, why don't we usurp the status quo, and select someone to run for president. by colbaltbluein politics

[–]colbaltblue[S] 0 points1 point ago

True, but I think we could reach a consensus if properly motivated. Perhaps we could decide on a platform, then pick the candidate we believe most closely represents those interests.

how about dropping "electronic" and just saying transfer of information, as fiber-optic communications would be exempt from your current iteration.

U.S. Government Confirms Link Between Earthquakes and Hydraulic Fracturing by hope4manin oklahoma

[–]colbaltblue 1 point2 points ago*

You should check out how the fracking process works. They inject this slurry of heavy metals, chemicals, etc.... called "mud" into the ground at high pressure to break up layers and layers of shell to make extraction easier. If this process is done near a fault line I see the likely hood of inducing tectonic activity to be high, if pressure is already present on the apposing plates. This is not to say, however, that fracking causes earthquakes, just that it facilities them; possibly to the extent that it increases the likelihood of strong quakes.

I personally am apposed to fracking, not due to the possibility of inducing quakes, but because the environmental damage is insufferable. There is a mounting pile of evidence that shows fracking to cause various health risks to the surrounding counties where fracking has occurred. The contamination of the water table alone is reason enogh to stop this counterproductive practice.

Given the entire radio spectrum were available, would it be possible create a distributed wireless network that could compare to FTTP (fiber) in speed? by colbaltbluein askscience

[–]colbaltblue[S] 0 points1 point ago

Perhaps you missed my point of using different frequencies for different communication scenarios, e.g. using short range spectrum for end user to node communications, while long range (vhf/uhf) handles node to node communication.

It would not take much to better the cacophony of communications competing for spectrum, but yes I need to do more research.

I know what you mean about a number of frequencies being locked in, which sucks. I think a distributed wireless network of independent nodes would be far superior to our current infrastructure. This would also more closely match DARPAs intention to make the internet next to impossible to take down. I appreciate the numbers, any chance you could figure out how many UHF/VHF tower would be needed to blanket the U.S.? I tried to find out how many broadcast towers there are currently, to no avail. Do you think this would be possible/beneficial in a developing country like India?

Pepper spray used on Occupy Tulsa protestors. by FuzzyHappyBunniesin oklahoma

[–]colbaltblue 0 points1 point ago

Media attention is well and good, but they should focus on an official declaration of intentions. Yes, yes, " we are the 99% " is a fantastic tag, but they need to organize, quickly & without a corporate sponsors. The media keeps beating the fact like a drum, and crying scandal at any hint of corporate donations. I wish I knew of a forum that could handle the possible deluge of connections while enabling the necessary dialogue to take place. If only they could "Occupy Online", and somehow congeal the legion into one voice. Too bad reddit would not work.

Upvote/agree that the were reasonable, however the problem is that these laws were written to hide (make illegal) vagrancy, and are only being used on the protesters to squelch the movement ( READ: nuance). I regard these laws as unjust even when used against vagrants.

I've been using Zedge since WinMo days, and I have to say it's a pretty sweet site. It was one of the few that did not require anything to download the files, though it gave the option to send as an MMS. I used the MMS option on a friends phone, and they never complained of spam. I only recently upgraded to android, but so far so good on the app.

I use to enjoy Swing house back in the day, especially during the emergence of the Squirrel Nut Zippers. If you really want the back story you should start here but the closest root would probably be Swing House
