Divide between Men and Women (non-SRS) by Karma_Houdiniin antisrs

BTW, I'm in Australia.

I haven't lived in the USA for more than 20 years.

"Free speech!" - Short-term, ignorant self-interest. "I don't care who I hurt with these slurs, don't ask me to think about others when I've got something to say!"

Um, no.

Free speech is all about giving other people a voice, not using one's own voice at the expense of others.

Again, what makes you say that this fear is overstated?

I guess one piece of evidence is Michael Moore's movie, Bowling for Columbine, in which he pretty much ascribed many of the problems in US society to a surfeit of fear for one's fellow man.

I think that there's a huge difference between "fat girl" and "small penis".

One is public, and one is private, and I think that makes comparisons inadequate.

Feeling a bit down, talk of suicide? BENNED! by throwawayDOXin antisrs

[–]cojoco 0 points1 point ago

My main point is that SRS encouraged a suicidal man to commit suicide.

Because of the inflammatory nature of this subject, I think it's really important to state the facts as unambiguously as possible.

Otherwise people will just start slagging each other off again.

it's also very understandable why so many women have fears about sexual assault and why they change their behavior constantly because of it.

While I cannot suggest they change their behaviour, I think I can suggest that there are a lot of fears in this modern world of ours that are overstated.

Post such as the original, which flat-out state that all women are scared of sexual assault, are untrue and in my opinion counter-productive, as they engender more fear and distrust.

Yea, but SisterOfBlackVisions, undoubtedly an SRSer, did.

Unless you know something we do not, there is little evidence for this.

What I argue against is to keep talking about this as if he DID kill himself when NO ONE here knows or has evidence that he did and continue to use the that as a fact.

I agree.

Oh no, of course not.

I think we need to take a step backwards.

The original post is a guy saying that he's mortified that women are abused and scared all of the time.

I respond by saying that this is not universally true.

I don't know what "data" you are talking about.

Feeling a bit down, talk of suicide? BENNED! by throwawayDOXin antisrs

[–]cojoco 2 points3 points ago

there is no evidence that he actually did

While that's true, there was a real suicide brought into the troll, which is really sad.

Your statement was open to misinterpretation:

The original bit was real.

There were three pieces: BlackVision's original post, a real news report of a man's death, and the sisterofblackvision's troll.

I don't think anyone knows if these three events are connected in any way.

Feeling a bit down, talk of suicide? BENNED! by throwawayDOXin antisrs

And you're assuming an actual death took place.

An actual death did take place.

It's just that nobody knows if any of the three things are connected or not.

Busting the carbon and cost myths of Germany's nuclear exit by DonManuelin energy

A control room plan of nuclear fuel rods at the former Rheinsberg nuclear power plant in Germany, which is being dismantled at a cost of €560

That sure looks like a myth to me.

No, but you can understand that your wife lives an exceptional life, right?

Not exceptional for the West, which I assume most people commenting on Reddit are a part of.

There's no indication that this happened in an SRS sub.

But if it did, it does seem to look a bit trolly.

Why would a vulnerable man wander into SRS and ask for moral support?

why do they say "benned" rather than "banned"?

It's culty to make up your own jargon.

It's a way to feel like part of the "in" crowd.

What makes you pretty sure of it?

Because I know one woman who has enjoyed living close to the inner city of a big city for the last twenty years without fearing for her physical safety.

Are you going to tell me that my wife is living too dangerously, and I should be telling her to be more fearful?

You've got an opinion on what makes a woman attractive? SEXIST PIG by Himmelreichin antisrs

[–]cojoco 1 point2 points ago

Without circular reasoning, can you, or anyone, explain why "sexism" is objectively bad?

Hey, Zaferk, I just saw this comment, and I'm wondering how to interpret it.

I think I'll just ask you straight up:

Do you personally think sexism is bad?

I added this to my first comment within a few minutes of posting it

EDIT: I guess I'm saying that a lot of men and women live in the world and are not victims of society, and that's the way it should be. I'm not saying that sexism does not affect people, but there are many people in the world who do not fear for their physical safety, because the dangers in some places are very small.

I'm not denying that many women have horrendous dangers.

However, I'm pretty sure that a lot of women in the Western world are a lot more fearful than they need to be.

I find it best to simply ignore the shouting points and concentrate on the interesting stuff.

I think that's one reason that they hate me.

But you need to feather a new nest before you jump out of the one you're in already.
