Last years MIDTERMS (?!) cost $4 billion! $10 million less than what was spent in the '08 (PRESIDENTIAL) elections! Meg Whitman spent $160 million trying to become the CA Governor AND LOST! o_0

When will the madness stop?

It will never stop until, to quote Anthony Weiner (D-NY) in his IamA post, "publicly fund campaigns and limit expenditures by candidates. We need to end the constant money chase and the ability of corporations to distort the national debate."

IMO, campaign finance reform is the single biggest issue, and the most effective way to start changing things around here for the better. It is the only way "to do away with the political class who are stoking and exploiting the anger and the business interests who's bidding is being done." Right now, all we have is politicians who whore themselves out to raise money to get elected and keep their seats. They will never accomplish anything, or do what will sometimes be painfully necessary, while they 'owe' someone for their seat in Congress. That someone is NOT you or I, their constituents.

Wrap your brain around that, look at all the big issues and possible solutions, and tell me I'm wrong.

It just infuriates me. Those assholes we elect do nothing but play games with Americans who are too stupid to see or don't care they're being played. You know, let's say we're saving money by cutting NPR ($50 mil) or Planned Parenthood or whatever else plays on people's emotions, but does NOTHING that makes economic or even social sense. The reality is they need to fucking do something for a change. Start by reforming the tax code so companies like GE who make $5.1 billion pay a FAIR share of taxes. No more of this pay nothing AND also get $3.2 billion in tax credits bullshit! But, that or serious cuts to things like the Defense budget, will never happen while while we have whores and "business interests" in Washington.

Somebody posted an article about Wachovia paying a trivial fine for nearly $400 billion of drug money laundering. Combine this with the whole housing market crash that ruined our economy, the bailouts, the Gulf Oil Spill, etc. IMO, where was the justice? Are you fucking kidding me? Nobody PAID for that. Who went to jail? And what's really changed? Nothing. And it never will while we have whores and "business interests" in Washington.

Let's not fucking forget either that corporations and unions, by that recent SCOTUS ruling, are entitled to the same right to free speech that individual citizens. Remember, they ruled money is a form of political speech and is protected by the First Amendment. I doubt this would ever have happened if we didn't have whores and "business interests" in Washington. This ruling, with its apparent constitutionality, conveniently protects the whores and "business interests" desired election results, doesn't it? Fuck 'em. Is anyone with me on making campaign finance reform THE BIG FUCKING ISSUE again? Help!

Let me leave you with this: In 1928 Will Rogers wrote, "The average citizen knows only too well that it makes no difference to him which side wins. He realizes that the Republican elephant and the Democratic donkey have come to resemble each other so closely that it is practically impossible to tell them apart; both of them make the same braying noise, and neither of them ever says anything. The only perceptible difference is that the elephant is somewhat the larger of the two." 80+ years later and he could've written that yesterday! We'll never be able to tell them apart while we have whores and "business interests" in Washington.
