I got her exactly what she wanted so I'm sure she's happy. I had been reading r/watches and researching an automatic that I would buy. I mentioned this one about 2 months ago to her in passing and that's why she bought it.

There's a great and free little program called Better Touch Tool that lets you take complete control of your trackpad, even allowing custom application specific gestures.

I liked where you were going with that, but it didn't work. Apparently that feature isn't built in.

Yes, that was what I meant. Somehow I figured that it was supposed to do that. Thanks for the answer.

Well, from there you'll have to try buying a new component and testing if it works...it probably will. Either that, or you have a new paper weight. Good luck and update me.

Relax, it's just a machine. Just read that you don't have your vista disc. You could always grab a copy and burn it.

Get the model number and look here for the pdf maintenance manual. This should detail how to troubleshoot and replace the parts if needed. Good luck.

Here is the maintenance manual(PDF file) for the A500 Series. Follow the rather simple instructions on disassembly and you will be fine. It helps to keep track of screws by doing this. A large piece of cardboard works even better. If you have any questions along the way, feel free to ask. Good Luck.

This probably isn't as serious as you think. I don't think you have a virus/spyware. Well, you might, but that may not be the cause of this problem. A BSOD(Blue Screen of Death) indicates either a software or hardware failure. First, we need to know what the blue screen of death says. The following instructions will allow you to prevent the computer from restarting while you copy down what it says with a pen and paper.

This is done by right clicking on my computer, selecting properties, and clicking on the Advanced tab, then click on the settings button under the Startup and recovery box (should be the third one), and unticking Automatically restart, then press ok.

When you've done that, wait for the BSOD and post the info here.

No power getting to the hd would not cause the computer to not post, but may be a symptom of a bad power supply. two things: are you sure your monitor works, and there is usually a voltage switch somewhere on the psu that you should check for the proper setting. Keep me updated and good luck.

It's strange that the power supply unit fans won't spin when disconnected from everything. Also, combined with the flickering case light , I would try swapping out the power supply. If you have to buy one Make sure you can return it if it does not work.
