Trailer for 'Kumare' -- a filmmaker spends years pretending to be a spiritural guru from India, and even builds up a following in Arizona, while documenting the entire ordeal. by forcedusein videos

Whatever dude. Actually, do go on. How was it an ignorant question? What is wrong with you people?

I wasn't noting that religions are bullshit. I asked what was the difference? Is there some marker that people hold for real vs "made up" religions. If I wanted to say "religions are bullshit" I would have said it.

"Could people find the same peace from a made up religion, that they found in a real one?"

I'm sorry, but what's the difference?

edit: to think i wasn't even trying to be an ass. Is there some marker to determine out of the thousands of religions out there which ones are "real" and which ones are "made up"?

I'm not bitching at you, YOU'RE THE ONE THAT STARTED WITH THE VEILED THREATS.

And I see that you ghost-banned my post. What a beautiful example of integrity and transparency you have going over here.

Where did I plead ignorance? I give up. I made two posts:

One quoting the bible. And one answering a follow up question. If this is wrong continue building this brain killing community of people where a simple question is "against community policy"

Best of luck with that.

Tell me how I violated the community policy. You guys are building an intellectual North Korea over here. Have at it.

Okay is it the same problem? Are atheist venting on the internet akin to muslim extremists flying planes into buildings? Or christian extremists picketing the funerals of soldiers or withholding medical care from their children?

So your argument to God telling people to abduct women in war and keep them for yourself is:

"The Old Testament is a different animal than the New Testament"?

Really, and you find that satisfying?

Why was it in there in the first place? Isn't it the same perfect and loving God? Even us lowly human beings that think up sick stuff like that are put to shame.

Your fallacious argument

I stopped reading there. What argument did I make?

You understand that the church is not in the practice of abducting women and forcing them under the subjection of men right?

Hmm except for those places in the bible where men get to abduct women and force them under the subjection of men.

But the *women*, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.

Yep. It's the same problems modern day Christianity and Islam suffers from.

Question: What atheist groups today are as extreme as the the extreme folks in Christianity and Islam and are as harmful to mankind and that harm is a result of their atheism ?

  1. Logic is not something you "believe in".
  2. It's "believe"
  3. Even with your last mini edit, your point is still bullshit!

R/atheism, yesterday I went to a funeral for a friend. It was horrible, and I really need to share my story. by DoctorHoenikkerin atheism

I just googled and found this yahoo answer:

Why can't jehovah's witness enter any church other than their own?

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters That is how cults control their followers. Any True religion is not so threatened.

exJehovah's Witness

Their are several Witness who claim that they can enter other "Churches". What they don't mention is that they would be brought before a committee of Elders if they were found out and if they continued to do so they would be disfellowshipped. It is not even encouraged for a funeral or a Wedding. You will find most Witnesses not attending the Funerals or Weddings of friends and family if held in another church.

[–]christmasbonus 92 points93 points ago

The day I realized how fucked up religion was: My childhood best friend died and one of our other really good friends (we all grew up together) came to the funeral, but since he was a Jehovah's witness he couldn't enter the church, so he sat in the car alone and cried.

That was it for me. At that point, I still believed, but I knew something was terribly wrong about the entire thing.

If gay relationships are legal, why are incestuous relationships outlawed? by [deleted]in Christianity

[–]christmasbonus 4 points5 points ago

I do not care if siblings who are of age have sexual relations. It is of no concern to me. As far as the idea of diseases, we don't outlaw other relationships between two folks that could pass on birth defects to their kids.

Faith in the infallibility of the mind is the atheist's delusion by allanpopain Christianity

I know right? Most arguments you hear are about the mind being infallible, subject to trickery, absolutely susceptible to delusional ideas. We can't trust our "memories", or even our own eyes!

What atheist argues that the mind is infallible? We argue the EXACT opposite!
