I think it was about 60-70 min before the batteries ran out.

I'd say it was taken from 3p to 4p.

What would you do to improve it? It sorta lacked the dramatic contrast. Just playing with the new video camera.

Yesterday Night I watched a film (gasland) about Fracking. Is all the information in this film correct? Why are WE ALLOWING THIS! by Irish_whiskey_faminein politics

kill our own citizens

In that case, perhaps these companies and "our" governments have a different definition of what a citizen is.

The US did not invent them, and GE/Westinghouse (GE: owner of CBS, hmm) does not own the licences/patents, therefore, no CANDU reactors.

Redditor here. I have been to more than a few wells and I can tell you that the closest these companies get to having a scientist giving even one shit about what's going down into the well is, well, nobody. The only scientists on site are the geologists, whose only mission is to tell the drilling supervisor where they are and how much deeper they have to go before they stop and begin completion of the well. Period. Maybe one in ten wells actually get visited by the state/provincial or whatever government for some testing, but pretty much, it's a very cozy relationship. The drilling company only cares that the gas comes up and is captured for transport to market. Period. What happens after that? Who cares? It'll be ten years before anyone's water begins to show signs of contamination, right?

I like that one, too. It's not too '70's looking. It's kinda modern looking. I like it.

I will buy them all. Please send them to Miami Airport Hotel, care of David Lee Roth. Thank you.

(Kidding. I bloody well love the yin/yang one... that one really took some skill. Well done.)

JPMorgan’s Trading Loss Is Said to Rise at Least 50% by EquanimousMindin Economics

[–]catsfive 0 points1 point ago

this loss was a bad investment, but

Yes, in terms of their overall equity/assets, $8B isn't the end of the world for them. It IS, however, still a big deal, as this loss doesn't represent just one or two bad calls. It's not just a bad investment here or there; it's a string of endless bad investments inside a direction, guided overall by the executive in question. Hence the reason she's in some pretty hot water right now. OK, lukewarm. OK, cold, actually--she won't do a day in jail. But, still.

Last we heard from Iceland, people were rising up and overthrowing the bankers. Then, no news on the television or newspapers for two years. What happened? Iceland’s peaceful revolution is a stunning example of how little our media tells us about the rest of the world. by marcussantiagoin greed

[–]catsfive -1 points0 points ago

Ah, well, come on, you know what I mean. We're both intelligent people. I thought your comment skirted the obvious issue. I'm a former newspaper editor. The article wasn't about the amount of coverage or any parallels between similar populations. The fact is that Iceland is doing something that would be called extraordinary anywhere else in the world. If they knew about it. If you didn't read the article this Reddit link pointed to, that is your issue, not mine.

Wait. Did Pittsburgh forgive all mortgages within its city limits? Did they kick out the bankers? Is Pittsburgh considering the Canadian dollar as its currency? Is Pittsburgh in the Stanley Cup playoffs? No? Then it deserves its news blackout. Iceland, OTOH, in doing what it's done lately I think definitely qualifies as a "man bites dog" story. And the headlines? NOT forthcoming. And that's the point of this story.

Reddit is changing. It's being taken over by middle school and high school kids. by ThisisYungin TrueReddit

[–]catsfive 0 points1 point ago

I actually had an idea to accomplish this. Everyone gets three +5 upvotes and -5 downvotes per day. They have to use them wisely. This would force them to spend them on something they really felt passionately about, plus or minus. Would this make sense?

the child in question could be 20

Good points, but... I was 39 when I discovered Reddit. I think a 20 year-old with a 10-year Reddit badge scares me for some reason.

OP here. I study /gaming linguistically, but don't follow most specifics. That is, I see your post as: [Reminds me of a game I played.] I believe I'm right, but.... yeah. It's very meta, but I am not sane.

Yeah, underperforming. What would you have said? I liked the pic and thought it'd do better. And now I've wrecked it for someone who'd come up with anything better. I was a bit high.
