What do you think of a religious image aboard the ISS reddit? by walkingonairin atheism

I like to say that the world is full of stupid people. Apparently there are also some in orbit.

Barack Obama : “No one in America should ever be afraid to walk down the street holding hands with the person they love.” by WowbaggerMMin politics

I disagree with that quote. If you are walking down the street, be afraid, be very afraid. Car VS pedestrian accidents can be pretty nasty. Walk on the sidewalk.

Drinking Water in the Backcountry (excellent article) by muddypawsin CampingandHiking

[–]calis 0 points1 point ago

If a person were to chemically treat the water and then filter it, would it be worth it to get one of the smaller micron filters? I'm still gathering gear and reading everything I can right now and I'm a bit paranoid about water. My thought was getting something like the Aquamira drops for a primary treatment and a Katadyn Base camp filter for the secondary. Is this overkill? The drops aren't going to add to much overall weight to my gear, so maybe it's worth it?

Sadly, I don't work off of recipes much. I just throw things together. I got the basic idea from a few different recipes for a buffalo chicken dip, you can Google them if you like, most of them use canned chicken, and I prefer to cooks the sauce into the meat.

3 or 4 boneless breasts in the crock pot with:

  • 1 cup Frank's Hot Sauce

  • 1 stick of butter

Cook that in the crock pot, then shred the chicken up with forks. Then add

  • 16 oz Cream cheese

Let it all melt, stir it up.

This really makes a great base for starting any number of possibilities, add blue cheese, bacon, green onions..kitchen sink.

Those look very nice. I've come up with an interesting variation. I make a buffalo chicken dish in the crock pot that is basically chicken breasts cooked all day in Frank's Hot Sauce and butter, then shredded and cream cheese added. I make a lot at once so I eat some, and freeze some. I thaw a bag of it out and stuff my Anaheim peppers with that stuff, then wrap them in bacon and smoke them on my Traeger. I've been toying with ideas to shake them up a bit too...maybe mix in some blue cheese....

What's the deal with case lube? by monochromatic_oeuvrein reloading

[–]calis 0 points1 point ago

I read about a tip about using synthetic motor oil as case lube. I bought a quart of Mobile One, poured a little bit in the cap and dipped the neck of every 10th case prior to sizing. Granted, this brass will probably need WASHED to get rid of residual oil prior to loading, but I plan to shine them up with a touch of vinegar anyway.

The gal on the left is really 25, she had a bright career as a pioneer and was Bethel-bound. Then one day, she accidentally heard a Bon Jovi song on the radio that led her on a downward spiral of drugs, fornication, and...not giving thanks to her creator before meals. Now look at her.

Edit: Because I needed too.

That has nothing to do with the dentist being a drunkard. I'm certain that ALL dentists take satisfaction in torture.

...yes, I said ALL. Even if you are a dentist and reply claiming to be the exception, I will then consider you a dentist as well as a liar. Sorry.

What kind of job do you have that allows you to take weeks, possibly months, off to backpack in the wilderness? by spagheddiein backpacking

[–]calis 3 points4 points ago

You are going for the right sort of job. 911 medics typically work a 24 hour shift, not always mind you, but all of my medic jobs have been. The beauty of that is that the rotations are pretty nice, but varies from area to area. My previous job I worked 24, off 48. I could take one day off and have 5 days free. My current job has a modified Detroit schedule. I work 24, off 24, work 24, of 5 days. If I take 2 days off, I have 13 days free.

Dear redditors, what's the most common error that foreigners do cooking your country dishes? by MrGestorein Cooking

American here. I find that people often think that bacon can be made from a turkey. Sadly, this misconception has carried over into the mainstream American population also.
