TROPHY CASE

Arlington, Texas, just paid $30,000 for this logo. Doesn't seem like it was quite worth it.. by sapproin WTF

My college town paid $15,000 for an advertising campaign. What the company came up with was a mildly stylized "Wow!". That came to $5,000 per letter. Pretty good profit margin there.

I lived in Long Beach for years. I have some friends there with whom I occasionally play MTG. I lived in Culver City for the last few years and that's how I hooked up with the UCLA group. I'm in Torrance now.

If you build an EDH deck you should come to the UCLA group. Heck, even if you don't have and EDH deck, sometimes you can use a loaner - most of us have multiple decks. If you like the group and want to keep going, maybe we can carpool. LBC to Torrance is not too far.

I'm a convert to EDH. It makes games much more epic. Also, it's a good way to use cards you would normally never even think of using. Since you only need 1-ofs, it can actually be more cost effective format in which to build decks. Sure, there are some staples to the format that can be costly, but overall I think it's very easy to get into. My suggestion would be to try and get a pre-con deck if you can and then augment it.

I brought you back to 1 with my vote! I do not get why you would be downvoted...

I go to F&S pretty frequently myself. I was busy last Saturday (so busy I didn't even read Reddit to see your post until now), but the next time I go, I'll PM you. I play EDH at UCLA on Saturdays - where do you live in LA? If you like EDH and are close to the West side, you should come play! We have a great group there.

This is a lemon. by Psyducksin WTF

It's not a lemon. It's an imitation of a lemon. It would have been a lemon if it had more time to complete it's copying of the lemon.

I traded all my collection (minus the cards in decks) for these. Was it a good idea? by caffiend2in magicTCG

I agree. I also snatched out several cards with art by Phil Foglio and Brain Talbot just because I like their work.

You are the true master of this - but you showed it is possible to get something awesome by continually trading up.

I had sorted those cards by color and type not that long ago. It's pretty close to what you're talking about.

I actually did quickly sort through all the cards before unloading them. I pulled out some classic and always useful cards to keep. Also, he did not want bulk rares without a gold symbol on them - so I kept all the pre 5th edition rares. My entire collection of cards not in decks is still probably around 3k. I held on to commons like holy day, o-ring, fog, rampant growth, etc. I looked for cards with card draw, land ramp, counterspell, destroy target____, and I set a few aside to keep.

I understand. I'm not that great at trading, I'll admit.

A few cards from ice age era - maybe 1000 or so. The overwhelming bulk was from mirroden up to ROE.

I got all 13 by trading. I did give the guy like $10 cash.

Yeah, but shipping costs...anyway, it was much more simple this way. I did try to sell some lots on e-bay once. Didn't sell a damn one.

I might have been inspired by the guy who kept trading up starting from 1 worthless card and ending with a black lotus. Also, I was inspired by the guy who recently posted a photo of his 4 of each dual lands. He had been working on that project for like 3 years and was very happy to complete it. I though "now that's a worthwhile project!"
