The actual term is "stretched lobes" and the process is called "stretching," NOT "gauges" or "gauging". "Plugs" or "tunnels" refer to the solid and hollow jewelry types, respectively. Gauge is the measurement of the size of the jewelry, not the name for the jewelry itself.

If you take care of them, they won't smell. Everyone has this misconception that the second you start stretching your ears, they stink. No. Not at all.
