Well, blue whales are the largest animal ever on Earth. They could probably fit a few sheep to say the least.

No, but you did give millions of S&M fetishists who enjoy soapy water up their peehole a great idea.

You're deep in the woods and stumble upon a cubic foot of pure gold. How do you get it out? by Harakouin AskReddit

[–]brilliantNumberOne 2 points3 points ago

Bury it, remember the fuck out of its location (and discreetly mark a path so as to find my way back), and come back to carve it up and take it home piece by piece, however long it took. The Brinell hardness of gold is 25, while 6061-T6 aluminum is 95, and 4130 Cromoly is 197. From experience, I can tell you that aluminum is far easier to cut than steel, so a battery powered reciprocating saw would make short work of cutting some gold. I would probably invest in some sound deadening material to surround myself once I got a few pieces out so as to not draw unwanted attention.

As far as trucking the gold out, either pack it out or load it on racks on my Surly Pugsley. It has two racks that can hold 75 pounds each, and I can easily get at least 40 pounds per trip without compromising the offroad handling adversely. The nice thing about this bike is that the wide tires lend much low speed stability and the ability to roll over damn near anything. If I got 40 pounds per trip, that's only 30 trips.

tl;dr - I just spent way too much time thinking about this.

Why does standing water evaporate? by Sunlisin askscience

[–]brilliantNumberOne 1 point2 points ago

In evaporation, the surface molecules of the body of water are the ones to vaporize. Even in water well below the boiling point, there is still a considerable amount of energy contained within the molecules. These molecules obtain sufficient energy through the kinetic energy of the water molecules, or energy transferred from the surroundings. As the temperature is increased, so is the energy available, and the evaporation becomes more rapid. At the boiling point, most of the entire mass of water has sufficient energy to rapidly vaporize.

I'm a 17 y/o with a 6th grade education. I want to go to college. What should I do? by PotentialWastedin AskReddit

[–]brilliantNumberOne 0 points1 point ago

I dropped out of high school in 12th grade - not because it was difficult, but because of a lot of personal issues going on in my life at the time. During the couple of years that followed, I worked several odd jobs and didn't think about school. Eventually, I took my GED, then enrolled into my local Community College. There were placement exams that put me in the right level of classes (with regards to English/Math), and after a couple of years I transferred to a nearby private university that had an agreement with my community college such that all my credits transferred. I spent three years there, and I'm a month away from graduating with a BS in electrical engineering. I already have a job lined up, and probably saved myself $60k in the process by starting at a community college. The level of instruction at community college was often at the same level as the private university, if not better, as the instructors don't have to worry about research and what not - they're simply there to teach.

tl;dr:

  • Get your GED

  • Find a nearby community college that has an agreement with a nearby university such that your credits transfer and enroll. Don't take the SAT or ACT unless you have to.

  • Transfer! (After you get enough credits...)

  • ...?

  • Profit!
