Fox Broadcasting and its film and television station corporate siblings have filed suit against Dish Network, claiming that their new ad-skipping DVR infringes on Fox’s copyrights and breaches the companies’ distribution contract by ServerGeekin business

No I've been off it 5 years now since I discovered sites like Sidereel an TVLinks.

Now when I hear ads I feel like someone is taking a shit into my head.

My brother died today, at 28 years old. I've never had to deal with the loss of a family member before, do you have any pieces of advice you could offer? by Jinjitin AskReddit

[–]bilabrin 1 point2 points ago

Thanks. I wasn't really going for sympathy I guess I really just wanted to say that you'll get through this. Everyone tells you it's all going to be okay but that doesn't really mean anything they are just trying to comfort you. What does "okay" even mean? Things will be different for sure and it will definitely change you and make you deeper. You'll appreciate certain things more and tend to bond with people who are also a little deeper. You'll lose your appetite for several weeks.

To your point though I did seem to take it a lot harder than his family. I'm sure that's not true in the long run.... We hung out almost every day so...it was not only that we were close but it left a lot of big holes in my schedule to ponder the loss as well. In the end I imagined he would have wanted me to work it out and not put a mark on my record that could hold me back like being put in outpatient probably would and that helped me get it together.

Sorry for your loss...life is very strange... when it seems empty just remember that it will fill up again. Time really does heal all wounds after all. And make sure to stay in touch with people whom you've had thousands of conversations. Don't let them slip out of contact so long that it becomes awkward to call them.

It hasn't hit you yet. You hear that alot but it is actually a real thing. You don't believe it yet. Not really. My best freind died in a car accident when I was 18. It was surreal. It took about a week and a half to really hit. Then I nearly went mad with grief and was almost commited.

This is not going to be easy.

You will grow as a person just to fit in the enomity of the pain in.

You are going to feel as if your brother was the only person who ever existed and now that he's gone no one else is real and suddenly the world is completely empty. This will be a lonliness so deep and agonizing that it will take your breath away and leave you gasping.

Cry.

Be with your family.

In a few years you will be able to go a day or two without thinking about it.

In 5 years you will remember him but life will be new and the pain that is fresh now will be a world away and you will have slowly become reborn into a new life.

Know the stages of grief. You will experience them.

What does MFA think of my Summer attire? by whatisdookyin malefashionadvice

[–]bilabrin 1 point2 points ago

You know the look isn't too bad as an attention getter so long as you have the walk to go with it but instead of green I might go yellow for the shirt and wear a black belt and shoes with a black felt hat with a long purple feather in it. And leave the top few shirt buttons open. And make sure the tips of the shoes come to a point.

Yeah I am very weary of the whole catwoman idea. I still remeber michelle phiefer....ugh

I hope they can make another Batman movie as good as Batman Begins but after the last one I have serious doubts...especially due to all the high praise that one got...and in anticipation of a disgreement here are the specific problems I had with the last movie:

The plot was a jumbled mess and a thinly veiled apologetic for the war on terror. Many of the theads tied up in only a very loose and sloppy way. It was like they tried to cram 2 movies into one. Spiderman 3 had this problem as well.

I did not feel a deep connection to any of the main charachters.

Sure how about America 1776-1913.

The industrial revolution did more to bring peasant immigrants out of penury than any period in human history allowing millions and millions of Europeans who came here due of the economic freedoms in America to go from cramped tenements to having large families and owning businesses.

History is not going to highlight this for you because history is only a record of tragedies. Charles Dickens missed quite a bit.

This also allowed us to develop, in a very short time, the economic base which gave way to our military superiority and allowed us to fight the good fight in WW2.

It's not Koolaid.

The rich use their money to create jobs.

Either they buy things or they put it in a bank or they start companies.

If they put it in a bank the bank invests it in companies.

All job creating activities.

The difference between the rich having this money and the government having it is that the rich actually care if it's wasted or not.

The government does not. The government is not incentivized to make sure the money goes into things that society want's needs and desires. It can just pry it from the workers with threat of force in the name of the "greater good."

Rich people do not have this luxury...if they want to stay rich or get richer they have to actually be efficient, invest wisely and make sure that consumers are satisfied. This is not easy. They spend a LOT of time thinking about this and a lot of them fail... The ones who do not fail do not fail because they have created prosperity....even for the poor.

The government could tax this money from the rich (and does) and then waste is on high minded failures with little to no consequence for this failure.

They too are doomed but the dominoes will fall in a certain order and some countries are better than others in positioning themselves.

Every country who goes off hard money invites inflationary chaos due to speculators and will inevitably exprience monetary collapse. It's like we learned nothing from the fall of Rome.

Im fairly sick of compromise in economic matters. The are based primarily in math and if I know that 1+1=2 and you insis that 1+1=4 it would be absurd to compromise and say that 1+1=3.

There are very few elite but tons of poor and middle class. Tax increases on the wealthy will not bring in as much as small cuts in benifits to the rest but it will choke off job creation.

Banks are toast. Governments are gonna default en masse.

The dominoes are gonna fall mercilessly because the people in these socialist countries refuse to accept any cuts in government spending which affects thier quality of life.

This is what happens when you let people who take a government check vote.
