50,000 Subway Meals in January - Thanks Fittit! by mattsilvin Fitness

[–]betterth 0 points1 point ago

Oh wow, the argument is that there is TOO MUCH mayo in the tuna?

I didn't get that out of any of this. That's a legitimate point, that Subway should make their food healthier at the expense of taste. But that's not really our call.

Yup! I wanted to offer a source but I couldn't refind that post or any source online that pointed to it's original source.

r/fitness or not, if your'e trying to health healthy you want to minimise your mayo intake. Not everyone has a magic metabolism.

So you're arguing that mayo should not be treated as part of your fat macros, but should be segregated out as worse than your average fat?

Or are you simply saying that "you should make sure to follow your macros, even with mayo", which is a pretty obvious statement to make.

Mayo consists mainly of vegetable oil, which most people think of as an unhealthy fat.

Really? It's not even saturated, which used to be the big boogeyman. I've actually never heard of people thinking vegetable oil as being a bad fat, is there any evidence to support that or is that just yet-another diet urban myth?

People get tuna because it is low in fat and healthy.

If it is true that people get tuna because it is low fat, and they eat something with tons of mayo in it without understanding their food or knowing what's in it... I can see how that would be an issue for a lazy/apathetic person.

But this is /r/fitness, and I don't think that that mindset really applies to the people around here.

I remember reading the the tuna salad has a gross amount of mayo in it.

What's wrong with mayo? Fats are a vital and necessary part of every diet. It's energy-dense (calorie rich), but all fats are...

New trailer for "The Amazing Spider-man" by Awkward_Hugsin movies

Imagine that was the case for Darth Vader. Things like this, as you say, only detract from the story.

Don't be ridiculous. The Vader's mask was a symbol of his evil. Notice how when he begins to see the light at the end, he takes his mask off.

So we can see his humanity.

This was intentional...

Give this movie the time to use similar elements before you crucify it from a trailer...

I never believe the "fully transfat free" claim. Current FDA regs state that if the amount of trans-fats is less than 0.5g, than a claim of 0.0g can be made.

Always be on the lookout for weird "Serving sizes" that might have been engineered to hide the very real presence of trans fats.

America. Many in America do think that the 21 drinking age is ridiculous, and many 18-21 year olds drink anyway... but 15 is considered a bit young to being drinking a martini with lunch. Maybe sipping their parents drink, or having a glass of wine with the family after dinner, but a martini with lunch?? Just culture I guess heh.

Sorry where I'm from it's scandalous to think that a fifteen year old would be drinking martinis! Apparently this is normal for many people.

I find it ironic that the rich are angry over people taking advantage of swedish laws to pirate, but they are all too happy to take advantage of swiss banks for their offshore accounts by sargentpilcherin politics

[–]betterth 1 point2 points ago

Of course not, but it's ignorance. Don't you get it? Every country has it's stereotypes, and one of America's most prevalent stereotypes is ignorance.

Not even being able to name the fifty states or find them, and yet able to vote for the fate of all fifty. We are lazy citizens indeed.

Being an introvert doesn't mean you hate doing large-scale social events.

Exactly. I'm an introvert but I can do parties, bars and clubs just fine. I can socialize, be merry, have a great time and help others have a great time too.

But that's not my norm, that's the exception. I recharge at home alone, or with a small group. I spend most of my time alone, not 'out' or in large groups.

Introverts get a bad name sometimes.

What does a 15 year old drink out of a martini glass??

If this post is real than my advice is simply: the girl in this photo is great looking and has nothing to worry about. In this photo exactly, you are wearing too much eye makeup and all dark clothing which sadly detracts from you. You needs more color and style in clothing and much less dark eye makeup. But you are beautiful and you are 15 than you've skipped right past the awkward gangly stage that so many teens get trapped in for years.

As with most teenagers, the only thing unattractive about them is their lack of self-confidence.

How can you ask someone else to find you beautiful, if you can't find yourself beautiful? You have to fix what is inside and learn to find yourself beautiful.

Need to know - 23/M by ugliestcanadianin amiugly

[–]betterth 8 points9 points ago

(Disclosure: 25/M and straight, so I'm not a direct opinion, but whatever)

You look absolutely fine. You're easily a 6/10 or 7/10, and a few months of dedication in a gym would bump you up higher (7/10 or 8/10 easily)

If you have trouble with girls, it's what's on the inside that's holding you back, not outside. Confidence and all that. But don't worry, confidence comes with age and experience to those who want it.

The only thing "ugly" about this entire post is the self-depreciating attitude, honestly.

What are the small lifestyle changes you've made that have had big impacts for you? by nymusixin Fitness

[–]betterth 0 points1 point ago

When I was younger I drank a ton of soda. College era especially. I lived in a dorm at a geeky tech school and my entire floor was mostly gamer nerds. Mountain Dew and Vodka flowed like you'd expect beer to in a frat. Or just Mountain Dew, you can't be trashed when people down the hall are bringing their A-game in Counterstrike 1.5!

You build a wall of empty cans, many high, around your monitor...

Yeah I lost about 15 lbs in a single month when I stopped drinking sugary soda.

I still drink diet soda pretty regularly, my job is in front of a computer and isn't the most interesting and I require caffeine. I like diet soda, it has no sugar, other people like coffee, but most people fill their coffee with sugar and creamer, which to me defeats the whole purpose of not drinking your calories.

Maybe the artificial sweeteners will give me cancer, but it won't be obesity related cancer!

If you use a jailbroken iPod Touch/iPhone, you can get f.lux on your phone! F.lux combined with auto-brightness means that it won't sear your eyeballs when it's dark. Very convenient.

Good on you man. My sibling and I were raised by my father alone, from the time we were three and on. I wouldn't have had it any other way!

My mom got her shit together around the time I was 5 or 6, got into Nursing School, got a job and did a good job of paying child support. She paid child support for a long time, even if there were a lot of legal battles as the years went on.

I can't thank you for what you're doing for them, but your children will one day, if they haven't already...

My school's Dean of Students outed a girl to her parents. by dxt_susanooin AskReddit

[–]betterth 0 points1 point ago

Yes, but, we can not treat Deans as the same as pupils can we?

I think it's sad that we can't treat Deans the same as pupils.

Bullying is bullying. It isn't less wrong when a teacher does it -- it's more wrong. Where can a student go for help if the head of all the teachers is the one doing the bullying?

It's the worst kind of bullying possible in a school.

My school's Dean of Students outed a girl to her parents. by dxt_susanooin AskReddit

[–]betterth 0 points1 point ago

Fuck that. Many schools ALREADY have zero tolerance policies against bullying. No second chances. No three strikes. Zero tolerance. (Except: applied to the students).

Why should the Dean get away with something that many schools (and possibly his own) would have expelled a kid for?

Discrimination against gay students in the form of harsher punishments is perfectly akin to bullying. The Dean bullied these kids and should face the same zero tolerance policy that we enforce on kids.
