Caravaggio - The Tooth Drawer (1607) by beingandnothingnessin museum

I can't say anything with any authoritative certainty, but this might definitely somewhat sooth or settle your provoked curiosity.

...Rarely provoked unquestionably sincere laughter.

here's another source for the image. Suddenly, the link I initially provided appears drastically distorted; perhaps it's an issue on my end, but just in case.

Alfred Kubin - The Last King (1902) by BrownianGalain museum

Oh man I'm so happy you came through with this, this is great. I have a little bit of familiarity with the German language, and the word "Schicksal" is synonymous for both fate/destiny; literally the translation for either is the same, as far as I can discern. Anyways, that piece itself simply for lack of appropriate articulation is simply awesome... There is such a uniqueness to Kubin's work... Imaginative, dark, iconic, expressive, surreal... Nonchalant, seemingly quickly sketched or drawn, yet hauntingly masterful and meditative... I think I have to start his novel The Other Side tonight, I really don't have any excuses not to.

I sincerely enjoy all of these pieces, and haven't ever seen nearly all of them. The few I was familiar with you have provided in a much more pleasing resolution (much more respectful to the artist, if you ask me) than really nearly all of what is found with or in the majority of his work that is accessible online.

Just viewing these all now (really, you uploaded way more than I had initially anticipated... Again, I seriously and sincerely thank you) it's difficult to pick favorites, per se, because in my mind each individual work is so deserving of praise and notoriety in its own way; these few, though, were the ones which captured my attention and imagination the most (in order of favoritism):

Rider and Hiker in front of a Ruin

In the Chapel

Human Fate III

The Way to Hell

The Entrance to Hell

Epidemic

...Does this book of yours have any of his oil paintings included? I have only come across a few of his works regarding the aforementioned medium, and have looked for more.

Anyways, you didn't have to do this, but I'm very glad that you did; quality comments and contributions such as what you've provided here really is what makes this community so worthwhile.

edit: Oh, and please post some of these as submissions here. Would it be rude of me to submit one or two which I've deemed as a personal favorite, myself?

Please, please do. That would be incredible; high-quality scans of his work are not easy to come across, scan as much as you're willing to, it definitely would be appreciated.

Perhaps the lowest-hanging-fruit might also be the most succulent...

Kubin never fails to provoke curiosity in me. I've been meaning to read his work of fiction The Other Side for some time now.

I don't think so (however I'm not entirely certain).

This sort of sentiment is typically echoed by those who don't actually submit to the subreddit.

That's not even a 10th of the number of paintings he made in his lifetime.
