TROPHY CASE

Brew Natty Boh in Baltimore Again! by juniuslbin baltimore

[–]baltimoresports 1 point2 points ago

I'm a fan of the Boh for my cheap light beer, but I've been moving more towards Clipper City/Heavy Seas beers. They deserve a lot more recognition for making very good local beer.

Fuck Maryland and its taxes by narcedmonkeyin baltimore

[–]baltimoresports 8 points9 points ago

Move.

While MD might have some high taxes we have some cool things like decent highways, two nice cities (DC and Baltimore) with also sports venues, rail transit, parks, bays and rivers, ect. Taxes are used to support these things.

This area is also great when it comes to employment, having two major cities 30 miles apart makes this an ideal place for talented people to find work. Out average income is one of the top in the country and we weathered the recession better than most. Even people in rural areas benefit for the tax revenue of our more populated counties.

Our state is leading the way in terms of gay marriage while other states are passing BS laws to deny people their rights. I can take increased taxes over laws denying people the pursuit of happiness.

Is it perfect. Hell no. Is it better than 60% of the other states in the county. Yes.

If you don't like it move to Florida or Delaware.

Red Line funding uncertain with failure of Maryland gas tax hike by baltimoresportsin baltimore

When gas is ten dollars a gallon. In 20 years our kids will be cursing us for not laying more rail lines when gas and construction prices were cheaper.

This should be the ultimate goal. Here is a dream scenario of a combined region:

A good first step would be make MARC service run much later in the evening and on weekends. No one uses it for causal riding because of it funky hours. I can't go to DC to see the Nats/Os series without paying twice to three times as much for AMTRAC and risk getting stranded if I'm not at the station by 11pm.

The west side would go along I-70 as well. It would be much faster than the current blue line.

Baltimore is slowly getting there. The Red Line is hopefully just the start.

FOX Things their is a rivalry by prosper1982in orioles

[–]baltimoresports 4 points5 points ago

I was at the game yesterday and its pretty divided down there. A lot of people in the DC area grew up Os fans and they won't switch allegiances. The other half is getting a bit resentful they have a good baseball team and there are so many Os fans. There is definitely more a rivalry this year with both teams playing well, than the manufactured hype of years past.

I'm 17 and my mom just technically abandoned me. Is there anything I need to know that can help me. by zzenterin AskReddit

I was 18 and on my own and my biggest regret wasn't just loading up on financial aid and student loans and living in a cheap college. It sucks graduating with the debt, but having a degree still is better than the alternative.

Try not to give up on school. You'll need every advantage you can get.

On the other side of the bay in Maryland/VA the Eastern Shore from south of Salisbury towards Tangier is a whole different world accent wise. If more south towards VA you go the more isolated it is and those people straight up have the strangest Mid-Atlantic/English accent I've ever heard. The people that live out in the south Delmarva area have been relatively isolated and most of the older families can trace themselves back to the original English settlers.

Here is a video of them.

I'm not sure of the size of your environment or your capabilities, but you might want to look into setting up a TACACS server and using aaa commands to manage remote log-ins. Then you setup a local UN and PW and you can lock it down using aaa as well. There are some fee TACACS servers available out there on the web.

If you claim to have some sort of knowledge of Baltimore with your snide comment and then send people to the Hard Rock Cafe or to eat at the stadium, it doesn't strengthen your argument. It's like saying when in Times Square in NYC go to TGIFridays or get the sushi at Yankees Stadium. Also if we're going to "call a spade a spade" outside the sterile National Mall with its blocks of boring monstrous federal buildings, and the MD/VA suburbs DC there is very much like Baltimore in terms of shit neighborhoods and cool spots tourists don't know about. Also the area outside Nats Park is about as dry as it gets. When I go to games down there I usually Metro a nice distance away to even find a decent pub.

The Inner Harbor is a tourist trap with mediocre franchise restaurants. Your best bet is getting off the beaten path a bit. Get the Yelp app for your phone and look at what the locals rate as the best. In Fed Hill there is Cross Street Market with decent food and fantastic beer specials. The surrounding bars have some fantastic food. You can Water Taxi to Fells with more bars and good food to mention. Also if you want to take a cheap cab ride to Canton JD Smokehouse and Nacho Mammas are two of the locals favorite bars. Within walking distance is Little Italy if you want a really good meal.

The Inner Harbor is great if you're short on time, but if you want to explore get out of there.
