Just got my wife a new camera, so she decided to get a shot of our dog's huge nose. Success! by azronin pics

Yeah, its more for the ambiance than anything, and the kids like sitting in front of it.

The little inset electric fireplace is similar to the Amish built electric fireplaces, but it's a cheaper version.

I've got a little bit of ventilation cut out of the hard board (one ventilation hole cut per cabinet space, so, 8 total, about 2 inches in diameter), but I may put additional ones in given the concern shown here on reddit.

Thanks for the advice.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind, may even pull the unit out of the enclosure just a bit when I'm actually using it.

The electric fireplace doesn't actually radiate heat at all. Its essentially a heater that blows hot air forward through vents, with a fake flame inside that emits no heat.

Thanks! There are a few issues I have with it, but I think most can be fixed later.

So, this is a really crappy electric fireplace. Its actually not a fire at all, just a rotating, heatless bulb that casts an image that some what resembles a fire.

Really, this is just an oversized space heater, the vents are at the bottom of the unit, and blow hot air outward. No heat is actually radiated from another other direction by the unit.

The fireplace is this, for reference.

So, the only things enclosed are the stereo and the electric fireplace. Obviously, the fireplace will only be run when the doors are open, the vent clears the center without an issue.

Everything is also plugged into a few different power strips that are turned off when not in use.

Had home depot match a color swatch for the paint, didn't come out exactly right though. I'll need to repaint it on a later date, and I think I'll need to rehang the doors, as those hinges were really tricky.

Sorry for the fuzzy pics, not the best camera, I know.

Which song annoys you the most? by staanjein AskReddit

Jessie's Girl. Worked in a shitty bar for a while where every single band that played would cover that god damn song. Jesus Christ, just saying the song name is triggering the flashbacks...

They really are nice to have. I've also heard good things about these smart power strips as a way to have everything turn on with one button, but I haven't tried them myself.

Well, happy MAMEing!

My beer holders are folding cup holders, so you can collapse them when you aren't using them. They really help out when friends are over, and they keep people from thinking they can rest their drinks on the cab.

Nice. Don't let anybody give you shit about the X-arcade either. Here's mine. I think I used that same set of plans and slightly modified them, built it about 6 months ago, still haven't put up any graphics on the side.

I know you said you were going to paint the sides and incorporate the hand w/nes logo, but check out game on grafix if you haven't already. Good stuff!

Does anyone else get an 'itch' to replay a game from their childhood? by OneCanOnlyGuessin gaming

Yeah, mainly nes and snes games. For me, Mega Man 2, all the Castlevania games up to Symphony, Zelda 1 and 3, and Final Fantasy 2 and 3 (or IV and VI if you want to use the Japanese numbering).

Something about the nes and snes years just stays golden for whatever reason.

I worked at a pet store for several years, and you ain't lying. We had some animals in a recovery room, including a teddy bear hamster and a 3 foot long ball python. One day one of the associates must have left the top of the python's cage unfastened, because I go in there, see the python is gone, and then see him in the hamster's cage!

I rush over, hamster is fine, bouncing around like rocky balboa, and the ball python is dead, with the top of his head chewed through. The python was back in the room because he was shedding and having a tough time, but he apparently worked his way out and into the hamster's cage, who promptly chewed his damn head off.

A hamster is a better fighter than a rat, but the point remains. Feed frozen.

Doing much, much better, though it will be a while before he hair grows back on her face. She's a pretty happy dog now, though, so there's that.
