Eating more fat than the standard macros is fine as long as you get adequate protein, but no reason to eat more if you're not hungry.

Some use it as a "diet", for many of us though it's a lifestyle.

As far as shedding fat in obese people, there's simply no other more effective/easier method. Afterwards you can transition to /r/paleo etc if you want to include more carbs etc, but some of us prefer the low/zero carb approach to life.

Where, who?

The brain does require some glucose, but that small amount can be synthesised by the body. I don't ever recall hearing anything except benefits of running the brain on ketones.

Think of it this way - the body can make as much glucose as it needs, if it was optimal to run the brain 100% on glucose instead of mostly from ketones, you'd think it would produce more of it. I could be wrong there.

Eat more fat. Choose fatty cuts of meat. Drizzle olive oil on stuff. Put butter on stuff. Add cream to stuff.

What have your experiences been with blood pressure and cholesterol on this diet?

Firstly, they aren't anything to worry about unless you have extreme levels, which indicates something else fucked up in your body. Keto/etc only improves your lipids, but that's a huge discussion.

I'm supposed to watch my sodium in general, because apparently that can raise blood pressure

Ketosis isn't required to eat fat, all it tells you is that you are producing excess ketones. Fat is the body's best fuel, you should be eating a majority of your calories from it regardless.

You only need to keep track of numbers once you are near your ideal physique - ~10-20lbs overweight - until then, eat as much fat as you can, get enough protein (4-6oz), and limit carbs as much as possible - it's rather likely the first 50-100lbs will evaporate in the first 6 months.

I find I'm far more energetic in a well-fasted state, ie 18-36 hours.

Meat/fat takes nearly an hour to liquefy, and then be pushed around the body. I like my body to do it's job without worrying about doing other stuff, so I'd leave it about 3 hours after eating before doing anything strenuous.

Having said that, there's plenty of times where I'll have a fuckoff steak and then go out dancing afterward.

Even carb-fiends can be in mild ketosis just from fasting overnight, so it can take only a day, but in some people it may take a few.

According to your flair you're only 26, my real sex life didn't start until 30ish.

Not that I didn't get any in that time, but it was nearly all in long term relationships, and so in some ways counts more than anything. But to digress...

The point is success with women is more about success with yourself, when you feel good about yourself other people can't help but be attracted to you.

From your flair you still have a way to go physically, but you're in the perfect position to start your journey mentally to coincide with your goals physically.
