I have a boardsmith board as well and it's the nicest board I've ever used. I've got the carolina maple slab. Fantastic craftsmanship out of NC, USA.

I personally sharpen on whetstones every 2 weeks or so depending on use. It really depends though, because sometimes if use has been light, I'll only touch up the blade on a 5k or so, instead of using a 400 and 2k as well. I'm personally fine with 80% for a long time.

Oh god no. Just get some whetstones and make the motions yourself. You get much better control. It takes some time, but it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

Not to be a downer, but it's going to need more than once a year if you want high performance. The second you put that knife on a board, it's already down. In terms of percents, many knives will be 100% for a very shot amount of time, then hold a 80% edge for a long time, and then will eventually get worse and worse. It's just a fact of using knives in the kitchen.

[Discussion] BaPC what do you use for storage backup? by manirelliin buildapc

[–]aseainbass 1 point2 points ago

Backblaze. $5 a month for UNLIMITED backup and you can set a personal encryption key. I'm at ~600GB and I haven't experienced any issues at all yet.

Getting into Paintball! Check my gear? by aseainbassin paintball

[–]aseainbass[S] 0 points1 point ago

Sweet! I'll probably end up getting the smoke lens, but that's about it.

What do you find works best for cleaning the outside/inside?

So no velcro at all? I like that.

Yeah, I was told to look at ORM for everything.

Thanks again! It's guys like you who make it easy for us new guys!

Yeah, I saw the manual and saw BL's checklist for what to do after certain number of cases. Very cool.

Sounds good to me!

In general how many cases can a gun see?

I mean it's got 40 cases though it and it has been well taken care of, but I don't want to buy a gun that's going to die in 20 cases. Though I won't be playing every week so I'm not sure it'll ever even reach that high. (before I buy another gun)

Thanks for the help man.

Are the standard lens for the grillz good? I hear the mirrored ones chip, but I'm not interested in a mirror finish anyway.

Definitely going to find a rotor cheap. They last forever and I can find one pretty cheap on PBN.

I'll check out a smaller tank, but I'm definitely looking for a bigger tank because I usually play back, sometimes snake.

I'll definitely look into the LYSK. Any specific reason they're better?

I'm getting a pair of PE pants for pretty cheap and they're pretty new, but if it falls though I'll look there.

I like speedfeeds. I found that the whole lid thing is kind of a pain in the ass.

Yeah, my buddy is a tech and is going to show me how to do everything to care for it. Any tips on which ones to buy?

Squeegee and swab or just the squeegee?

Hm, I'll definitely look into that sock.

Thanks for all the help man!

I heard the same thing actually. Plus I found a 68/45 for damn cheap on nation, something like $80 for a bottle with a 4 year hydro left.

I watched the "durability" video where he blowtorches the thing. I've actually been looking around and I can't find one used! All I want is straight black.

Which reg did you get on the 68/45?

What kind of batteries do you use? by blizz_in paintball

[–]aseainbass 0 points1 point ago

If you can get them, Duracell Procells. They're a bit expensive, but they last a long time.

DasKeyboard, or Filco. Choice of switches is up to you, but I personally like browns.

It's super thin strands of glass. Imagine cotton candy made of glass. Now imagine those strands under your skin. Worst feeling ever.

No download required.

It worked for a friend who had a stuck pixel, though that looks like actual damage.

If you want to get a better edge, look into Japanese whetstones. They sharpen knives better than anything else in my opinion.

No, the wave pattern is due to the billet of steel being layered/folded onto itself a bunch of times. HUNDREDS OF LAYERS. 1 fold makes 2 layers, 2 makes 4, 3 makes 8, 4 makes 16, etc.

questions on becoming a PADI divemaster by climbakin scuba

[–]aseainbass 2 points3 points ago

I'm going to sound like a douche, but here goes.

Please do not become a DM, at least right now.

First off, you don't have that many dives under your belt. Given that you consider yourself a "new" diver, I'm going to assume you have less than 25 dives or so. This really isn't that many and gunning straight for DM seems pointless to me give both price and lack of experience. Getting more dives under your belt is the first thing to do. Just enjoy diving and practice. Get your gear kit perfect, work on your buoyancy, and in general become a better diver. There is honestly no reason to do it now you really need experience. I don't mean to sound harsh or condescending, but I honestly get angry watching people get certified for things they don't need yet.

I watched 3 of my friends become DMs in a very short amount of time and we're not friends anymore. Why? Because they are absolute trash at diving. I'd rather dive with a first timer than dive with them. Absolute arrogance. We're not friends now because I confronted them straight up about it and they didn't like me. I do also know a bunch of VERY good DMs that I would dive blindfold with. Absolute pros. They also have a vast number of dives under their belt.)

PADI: Put Another Dollar In.

(Full disclosure: I myself am PAIDI AOW (unfortunately) with ~100 dives mostly in the cold, crappy waters of New England.)
