edit: I'm in Williamsburg if that matters, also they popped up when they started doing road construction on Kent Ave. I'm not sure if that's a coincidence or not.

Are you allowed to pull over a car for hire for no probable cause and search the passenger of the car? Does this fall under stop and frisk?

Of course it bothers me. But I'd rather would have been hassled and have had time lost than having my rights violated. For example: I'd rather argue back and forth with them for hours about not searching me and them actually not searching me, then them just being like 'fuck it' and searching me anyways.

Agreed, but for me they actively pulled out and had their lights on behind us and made us pull over. This wasn't a stop-everyone-at-the-stop-sign sort of thing.

To be honest, I don't think it was the fault of the car company or the car driver. He wasn't speeding, he didn't run through stop signs or lights. I doubt the cops knew what company he was working for.

I could care less about hassle and time loss. It's more about letting the police know there are boundaries they aren't allowed to cross. This was also a warning for everyone to be aware that this type of thing is happening and to be careful of what you have on your body and what car company you choose to take.

Did not frisk the driver, did not ask him to get out of the car. Did not give him a ticket. I was coming from around the Clinton-Washington stop in Ft. Greene but was pulled over around the Morgan stop in Bushwick.
