Mistake in "How to count infinity"? by Drugbirdin math

[–]alpha_omicron 1 point2 points ago

"Countable" means the same cardinality as the integers. You can't get a numbered list of reals (because they aren't countable).

I go home late from campus a lot and see geese on the way all the time. They sleep with their neck bent around and their bill jammed under their wing.

If scrubbing out is going to be worth the $20 to you, then go for it. If you're going to feel frustrated if you don't do well, then pass.

I tend to agree with Pat Chapin that mental shortcuts like these (play creatures after attacking, mulligan instead of wasting a Brainstorm, etc.) are pretty important to playing Magic. Having better shortcuts (and knowing when not to use them) makes you a better player.

I saw this in the women's bathroom in MC yesterday. SO which one of you did this? by CaseProtagin uwaterloo

Mulliganing is much more likely to fix your hand than a Brainstorm (especially with no shuffle).

You don't pay its CMC, you pay its mana cost. (These are different things. CMC is just a number.)

[–]alpha_omicron 2 points3 points ago

What if that Brainstorm doesn't fix your hand? (It draws blanks instead of whatever you needed.) Hint: You're dead.

[–]alpha_omicron 2 points3 points ago

It's the same to some extent in combo. Brainstorming with no shuffle available is a good way to kill yourself.

It's a constant discussion (and flamewar topic) among Legacy enthusiasts.

One reason not touched upon by other commenters: by Brainstorming at the end of turn, you give up the opportunity to cast it in response to an opponent's play.

No, it's stupid to waste a Brainstorm to "unmulligan" the bad hand you kept.
