Online poker for extra cash. How viable an option would it be?

Sorry for the ambiguity, I meant 100 hours/month of playing after those 3 months with a lot more hours of practice in the first 3.

Wow. Very informative and useful. I think for the first few weeks I will try to just learn more about poker and see if it is for me, but so far I feel like a kid who got a new toy to play with. Thanks

I can see now that it is not that probable to start making much in such a short amount of time. Yet now I am quite attracted to the idea of taking it up as a hobby. Can I expect to start earning the said amount in a year (with let's say ~25 hours/week)? That is, of course, unless I realise that I suck too much.

Well, I saw it being mentioned in other places that poker is a viable way of making money online, yet I couldn't find the amount of time a person needs to put in before he gets there.

I used to play a little bit of poker in school, but have never heard of the possibility of making money of it. Since I am currently searching for ways to earn some extra cash and have about 3 months before I get laid off (currently working as a security guard with lots of free time on other days) and move to UK, poker would be a perfect option for me. Playing it casually would not yield the same result as fully focusing on it, therefore that's why I'm asking whereas I should try poker or stick to something else.

Anyway, thanks for your opinion.
