how much does a day or 2 of downtime cost?

i bet your hardware is cheaper.

can you go w/ an older generation of hardware? the difference between the nehalem and ivy bridge is mostly the speed, from a vmware server standpoint.

Dentists deal in mostly preventive care. The cost of insurance or regular checkups/cleanings is pretty minuscule in comparison to what the article is covering.

Not to mention, there is a demonstrable benefit to going to the dentist for regular care. And there is demonstrable disadvantage from not getting that care.

I need learning lab help - can you help me build a SAN for my vMware lab? by absintheguyin vmware

[–]absintheguy[S] 0 points1 point ago

This is where I was starting. If I can put together a freenas box together for cheaper then I might change direction.

Thanks!

While beautiful, that's crazy expensive.

Freemas, openfilet and a solution like a synology box are all on my list.

Thanks!

i can do NFS easy and cheap. i need true san functionality.

ESX novice looking for advice on migrating to ESX by demosthenes83in vmware

[–]absintheguy 0 points1 point ago

Well, that's going to take some work. Max put on CPU cores and RAM. I'd design the storage w/ expansion options, but I'd leave that the leanest. Make sure to include the expansion plans w/ your budget. The other hardware should as maxed out as possible. If there isn't 4 embedded 1Gb Ethernet ports then you'll want to add them for management and service purposes. You'll want a separate management network and a separate out of band (DRAC/lights out) network w/ a secondary connection to the Internet, like isdn or low rate dsl from an alternate source to the primary.

iSCSI is prolly what I'd use along w/ NAS as opposed to a SAN. The performance isn't as good, but it's not something that should be an issue. Just be sure to use some sort of shared storage and put it on a separate network if possible.

Essentials plus gives you the biggest bang for the buck.

It was very possible at the time. It just wasn't as common.

I'm sure that machine would be pretty much a none issue now.

not all SSDs will speed it up. selecting the right one is crucial.

My version of the baked taco ring by TheWereRabbitin Cooking

[–]absintheguy 0 points1 point ago

you bet.

i use it for the same reason that you'd use puff pastery or filo dough. not that it's on the same level, but the brand name product is quite close.

they make make it in sheets and in divided, for croisants, sheets.

the pizza dough they make is not as compelling, but on lazy/busy days, it works esp well for calzones and pasties.

the pie crusts are quite good if your in a hurry. on the few occassions that i made the pie crust myself, it's been much better by my own hand/food processor.

the rest of the products, i mostly find them meh. although, the flaky biscuits have some interesting promise for those lazy/busy days.

croisant dough from a paper can

use the brand name product and don't let get it too warm before you open it.

$4K budget, two ESXi servers needed by sacmanin vmware

[–]absintheguy 0 points1 point ago

is it that much of a bottle neck?

i'd think that having interchangeable hardware would make up for a little hit in the performance.

$4K budget, two ESXi servers needed by sacmanin vmware

[–]absintheguy 1 point2 points ago

why don't you start w/ matching hardware?

you might be able to squeeze 3 or even 4 out of that. although the SSD will limit everything, you can still buy 4 used for less than you can spend on 2 mismatched for new-ish.

i'm new to this but this is kinda how i have it set up for my learning lab, to start at least.

no, you are a condescending shit.

you read the trivia on IMDB and then you argued about how the script writers where having a hard-on for making some point.

they weren't. well, unless they kept is secret just for you.

like i said, i have the books, the scripts, the subtitles and now i have the DVD commentary transcripts. unless i missed something, there's nothing there to support your assertions or the bland trivia of IMDB.

while trivia this combo certainly is, it's still not related to the movie in regard to the reason you indicated, you pedant fuck.
