From a restaurant owner on Valencia whose windows were trashed on Tuesday night, "It looked like police were escorting them," Kostelni said. "They didn't stop them." by aFilthyAristocratin sanfrancisco

"Why is it so hard to believe it was the black bloc?"

Because the Black Bloc focuses on corporate and luxury targets. Most of the stores attacked were not chains and not were corporate. And believe it or not, the black bloc usually doesn't hurt people either, it doesn't even hurt police officers most of the time. These thugs hit store owners with crowbars and threaten to kill our Occupy people there who were livestreaming the event.

Learning is fun.

Either they had something to do with it, or they are criminally incompetent. Either way, there should be an inquiry.

Why weren't they prepared? The Police come out in full force for every non-violent protest, so why were they unprepared for a "anti-gentrification march" through the Mission organized by the "bay of rage" anarchist group that glorifies riots on their webpage the day before May 1st. Are you kidding me?

There needs to be an official inquiry.

Hello again. Just read this interesting line from a SF Chronicle article:

"Even as they (the SFPD) defended themselves from criticism that they had allowed the vandals to run wild - one restaurant owner said officers even appeared to be "escorting" the group - high-level police officials met to find a better way to handle out-of-control crowds."

and from a restaurant owner whose windows were trashed:

"It looked like police were escorting them," Kostelni said. "They didn't stop them."

Thanks for your reply. Getting rid of these people is tough because anyone can show up with an Occupy sign and appear to be one of the members of Occupy SF. Anyone can come to one of our actions and act like a fool. But you're right, we have the responsibility to make sure that these jokers don't discredit our movement.

I know conspiracies often sound goofy. But have you ever heard about this? Have a great day.

You're right, Black bloc is hurting our group.

I personally have spoke to many of these people, and frankly, they are so stubborn and narrow-minded that the only way to stop them is to physically get in their way. Even then, they can be violent.

Had I known that they were going to be out in force yesterday, I would have gone down to Valencia st. But since this was not an Occupy SF action, I had never even heard about the march until late last night.

Here is a great article about Occupy and the Black Bloc. Have a great day.

Many people manage our website and some unknown person took it down. We are working feverishly to get it back up.

You don't have an answer because it makes no sense that the Police would let one of their own police stations and a whole neighborhood get vandalized. They have batons, riot shields, tear gas, rubber bullets, police barricades, etc....

Stop dodging the question. Why didn't the police stop these people? That's their job.

I do understand that the media is lying about this event and people believe this lie, that is why it makes me so mad.

Yes, the people who did this are stupid.

Here's a question, why didn't the police stop these people?

They are not Occupy. They are an anarchist group called "Bay of Rage" or something, like that.

Occupy SF and Occupy Oakland are different organizations.

Here is a first hand account of what really happened.

Be wary of what the media tells you. Remember what they did to ACORN.

  1. Occupy Oakland and Occupy SF are very different organizations. We are not the same.

  2. Also, I don't see anything in that post about destroying stuff.

  3. From a first hand account from my friend, he said that only about 5 people were wrecking stuff, and that their "black bloc" clothes looked a little too new...

  4. He also said that once these five people started wrecking stuff, everyone else dispersed.

"Apparently, the current level of organization is not enough to prevent bad things from happening."

Are you talking about the organization of the police? Why didn't the police stop these people? I couldn't stop it because I didn't know it was happening because it wasn't an Occupy event.

I agree that this vandalism stuff is really hurtful and stupid. It is strange that the police didn't stop it and stood by as it happened...
