TROPHY CASE

Chicago Police Department bought a sound cannon. They are going to use it on people. by stepinrazorin technology

[–]Workslayernumberone 1 point2 points ago

This is part of the problem. They don't want people to feel bad for protestors. Protests are far more effective when some one comes in to shut it down with force. They used to do it with guns but shooting people looks really bad. Then they started using rubber bullet but that looks very similar to regular bullets with less death. Then they tried chemical weapons, one zyklon B reference and that looks bad. Now they can cause extreme pain and it looks like nothing. Yeah freedom of assembly!

I am not a religious person but don't you think that you shouldn't be subscribed to r/atheism automatically like you are not subscribed to r/christianity or r/islam or r/judaism? by dbalciin AskReddit

[–]Workslayernumberone -3 points-2 points ago

I would like to see where you got this information. I think atheists are generally louder not necessarily more prevalent. Also just because someone isn't subscribed to /r/christianity doesn't mean they aren't a Christian it just mean they didn't come here for Christian reasons.

"Kissing and hugging are the last stop before reaching Groin Central Station, so it's important to ban all the things that lead to the things that lead to sex," - Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam signed into law Friday a new bill that forbids teachers from condoning so-called "gateway sexual activity," by FromHighAbovein politics

[–]Workslayernumberone 41 points42 points ago

Gov. Bill Haslam's office Friday confirmed to Reuters that Haslam had signed the bill, which stirred up controversy nationwide and even was lampooned by comedian Stephen Colbert. "Kissing and hugging are the last stop before reaching Groin Central Station, so it's important to ban all the things that lead to the things that lead to sex," he said on the "Colbert Report" television show.

A once-a-week cleaning service on a 3-bedroom house is likely to cost $100 a week

Make your children do it as a prerequisite to allowance. Just saved yourself $2,500.

$5000 for maintenance

After 10 years or so you may no longer like your kitchen. 50k for new kitchen. That would be 5K per year. The problem is you are trying to average something that may or may not happen. If you are budgeting for the chance that something happens you are going to need a bigger budget.

$14,000 a year for grocery and household

And household makes this very easy to inflate to whatever amount you want. I assume that the cleaning people bring their own supplies though.

$6,000 for student loans.

This is dumb. They are paying interest on student loans while saving money for their kids college. How much student loan debt can they have? It says they have 60K. They are saving 33k for retirement and 8k for their kids college and pay 6k to their loans already. If they divert all those funds to pay off their loans they would have it paid off in 1.25 years. After that they have 47k to split between retirement and kids college. If you cry about how you are struggling when you can manage to squirrel away almost 50k you will receive very little sympathy from me.

Why wouldn't they be able to sell it? GO dose not sell food unfit for human consumption.

The save icon is a floppy disk and everyone still understands the "roll down the windows" gesture. What are other things that refer to obsolete practices, yet still understood today? by Sati1984in AskReddit

[–]Workslayernumberone 38 points39 points ago

How do they know it isn't just someone shooting for food, defense, practice or any other reason? A stagecoach trip is measured in days, a short break to get new horses is inconsequential. How hard would it be to hear the shot if they were far enough away to not be seen? Seems like it would be very ineffective if this was indeed the case.

Driving from Florida to Portland, Oregon. Tips on driving w/ pet, keeping costs low, ride share, etc? by purplenurple66in Frugal

[–]Workslayernumberone 1 point2 points ago

Portlander here. If you are expecting to come here and find a job you are going to have a bad time. That being said it is pretty easy to couch surf and it is common to share a house with several other people in the more hipstery parts. Not quite as likely where you want to live though. /r/Portland side bar is a good place for info.

There needs to ba a recall of everyone that voted for CISPA. They need to know if you try to kill internet freedom the people will remove you from office.

Police in Portland Oregon terrorize, taser and beat innocent young man, then repeatedly lie in court in vain attempt to frame their victim, justify their attack and prevent him from receiving lawful compensation for their attack by brauhzein Portland

[–]Workslayernumberone 1 point2 points ago

So what's more dangerous, a murderer with a knife or a murderer without a knife?

Depends on if they want to kill me.

This example is ridiculous.

Yes and your tiger mouse example was reasonable.

a cliff is more dangerous than some plains. There's no intent involved. dangerousness is measured by intent AND means.

Topography cannot have intent. Therefore it dose not meet your intent AND means requirement. People always have means. Which leave intent. If they don't have that they are not dangerous.

[–]Workslayernumberone 1 point2 points ago

Once again those things are not comparable. A person without a gun is not like a mouse. Would you rather have a person with a gun not trying to kill you or a person without a gun trying to kill you? The person with the gun may have an easier time but not much easier. Someone with out a gun could still stab, strangle, or bludgeon you to death with little effort.

[–]Workslayernumberone 2 points3 points ago

The two are not comparable. I was only disputing the implication that gun owners are dangerous and violent. Owning a gun does not make you any more violent than you already were. A gun would only make you more dangerous if you had intent to use it against someone.

Why do we spend so much time screaming about how unjust it is for a CEO of a F-100 company to make $10 Million a year, who is in charge of 25,000+ employees, has enormous responsabilities, yet we never say anything about celebrities pay, such as Justin Bieber who made $53 Million last year? by Reddit_Buttholein AskReddit

[–]Workslayernumberone 0 points1 point ago

It is certainly less quantifiable. Think about it this way, how many guitars have been indirectly sold because of Jimi Hendrix? How many people are employed to make Beatles merchandise? I don't think Bieber is as good as either of my previous examples. The entertainment industry needs celebrities like a company needs a CEO, it doesn't matter who it is but they need to be there.

Driving 55mph on the highway makes a HUGE difference. by tomzillain Frugal

This is the most asinine cherry you could have put on top of your lovely cake of incoherence.

don't sit there like this guy refusing to admit that you might not be right. Don't cause or be a part of a life-changing accident because you can't get over yourself

Cute though. Let's try to take a couple more "critical thinking" classes in school first.

So that is about someone else? There is a fundamental difference in how we are thinking about this. I think that the people breaking the law are wrong. If everyone followed the law it would be safer. You are saying that only one person is following the law and is in the wrong. The one person not breaking the law would make things safer if they would speed up. The common theme is the difference in speed is what is dangerous. This is the exact reason speed limits were made. They keep people from having huge differences in speed. Therefore the people not following the speed limit are to blame for any accidents that occur.
