great. My wires actually have two layers of insulation around them, but using your approach I can use the flux through the whole system to get the operating T. Thanks for setting me off in the right direction.

this sounds about right. you can see when she's opening the cabinet the "reflection" is reaching a lot farther than the over the shoulder version. still its this kind of "movie magic" that really gets me going
