Hey Shane, I'm 26 and you're one of a handful of people that I look at and say, "that's a life that I would wanna have. that's an impact I would wanna make." What were you doing/thinking at 26? Did see yourself being you now?

What's funny is that we all immediately assumed you were the white guy.

Personally, I thought this satire on the boring, disaffected, self-indulgent lives of upper middle class spoiled kids that was in itself boring, self-indulgent and disaffected.

No such thing as a vegan by BitchesLovein funny

[–]Vietnom 0 points1 point ago

Re your first statement: no, no we don't. I would respond by saying, with equal unbacked ignorance, yes yes we do.

Re your second, the illustration that the perfectly moral person may have to die in order to achieve the perfect moral state of causing no harm, (which is I think what you're saying). That is only true in YOUR moral principles, which is clearly based on absence of harm. My moral principles are based on much more utilitarian ideas (which, it should be noted, are very very commonly accepted moral principles). Therefore, an outcome (humans being harmed, even if it's yourself), does undermine morality, because the overall utility is lowered by the self harm. Does this make sense? I can explain/illustrate more if that was hazy.

Are you watching Justified? You should be, it's one of the best shows going. by Reasonable_Rogerin television

[–]Vietnom -5 points-4 points ago

I disagree. I find it corny and all the characters walk around with a "I'm a slightly amused good ol' boy" look on their faces the entire time.

In Deadwood he's just a more complex and realistic character. Not ultra charismatic untouchable badass mcgee.

absolutely, I agree with you on this point. I was merely addressing the moral underpinnings of the vegan argument.

whoa whoa. I didn't go so far to say that factory farming and mistreatment of animals shouldn't be addressed and we shouldn't work to end them. I go out of my way to buy non-factory farmed meat, because I agree that it's atrocious and horrible for society. That being said, we do "need" animal products. That is exactly what I'm saying. There is no economicly feasible way to replace the incredible diversity of products we create from animal matter. And for that reason, the ideology behind veganism is a priori flawed. Not saying that we shouldn't work towards sustainable cultivation however.

It's not about attaining vegan perfection. This is just showing that the ideology behind veganism is naive. Humans need animal products, and that existence of that need undermines the moral argument against the slaughter of animals.
