As someone who has spent most of their life considering the universe, I was actually shocked to find out that atheism does not exclude agnosticism. I had a book about those kind of activities which are called "neurobics". It was called "Keep Your Brain Alive". I don't remember if they cited any studies in regards to the efficacy of the exercises, but I would be really interested to hear what others have to say about it.

Yes, can someone please tell this little girl that we are totally over the whole Down With The Princess Stereotype movement? I mean, we get it. Girls can and do enjoy things that are typically associated with boys. Although I'm not entirely convinced -- she tries way too hard to profess her love for the one thing we all know is associated with boys way more than trucks, tools, and sports combined - Volcanoes! And immediately denounces princesses. If you ask me, she is trying too hard to go against the norm. I hope this is the last article we ever see from this zealot.

Fair enough. It was certainly a learning experience and I appreciate all the kind support of people telling me better safe than sorry. My thoughts went back and forth from being frightened and wanting to seek safety in light and crowded areas to angrily preparing myself to kick the guy in the balls if he got near me, and this coupled with the fact that it seemed very possible that I was just being incredibly paranoid influenced my choice to stay on the bus as it pulled out of the town center. It was at that point the man walked towards the back of the bus to look at me while I was attempting to hide myself, and my sense of fear reached a whole new level. I think anger and frustration is part of the whole fight or flight thing - and probably not something to belittle someone for.

That's a very good idea. Nothing remotely like this has ever happened to me before, but whenever I imagine being threatened with assault, I always feel like anything I would do to try to get the attacker in trouble would just result in them deciding to kill me because of it... like trying to secretly call the cops or taking a picture. But letting them know that others already have evidence takes the threat to the attacker out of your hands.

Thank you! He actually came home about an hour ago, and I had forgotten that I dead bolted the door which I never really did before. When I heard him rattling the door trying to get it open, I ran over to the door with a knife. I was relieved to see him in the window.

I'm the same way, I become very immobilized when frightened. I've definitely learned from this, all I could think when I was looking in my bag was "how to I not have a single thing in here that I could protect myself with?". I will definitely be getting pepper spray, thanks for the link.
