TROPHY CASE

Steam Daily Deal - Jamestown ($3.39) by MBuddahin GameDeals

[–]Ultravod 3 points4 points ago

Bizarre but original premise for a nails hard bullet hell shooter. Not my cup of tea (I'm terrible at games like this) but I appreciate it's clever take on what can be a really monotonous genre. TB did a WTF is? of it when it came out last year. He kinda sucked at playing it, but seemed to be having a really good time while doing so. As an aside, the video is amusing largely because of his freaking the fuck out while trying to play and commentate at the same time.

[GMG] All Zombies Must Die 70% off - $2.99 by NuclearPrinnyin GameDeals

[–]Ultravod 4 points5 points ago

Ehhh... Done by the same dev that did Burn Zombie Burn, which is a derivative yawnfest and an abysmal console port. I got BZB in some Steam pack or other and it lived up to its terrible reputation. TB did a WTF is? of AZMD and while he did not hate it with the same passion that he did BZB, he didn't exact love it either. While AZMD lacks the major technical issues of BZB, it still has some weird game mechanics and virtually nonexistent configuration options.

Co-op looks to be a lot of run, but it's local only. I think TB is right in that AZMD would make for a great console game to play with friends. On the PC it makes less sense. The game probably is worth $3, but at the end of the day I'd rather play Nation Red.

Delta Force developer Nova Logic seeking damages over Modern Warfare 3 infringement by Ultravodin Games

I suspect this will settle out of court, but it appears as if Novalogic does have a case on one or two of their complaints.

I'd suggest subscribing to /r/GameDeals and patiently buying good games as they come on sale.

TB History: "So I found this old video I made back in 2007." by Ultravodin Cynicalbrit

[–]Ultravod[S] 5 points6 points ago

Wow sound quality. TB's famous baritone comes across more like a reedy tenor here. Still, the clip shows what is probably the man's greatest strength: his ability to string words together off the cuff nearly indefinitely.

The game in question is on Steam in case anyone is curious.

Terraria - The Next World Generation - Part 29 - Jesse is bad at Sting by Ultravodin Terraria

[–]Ultravod[S] 3 points4 points ago

It's going to be a whole different paradigm now that Jesse has a Lucky Horseshoe. TB will have to find new ways to troll him.

[GoG] Nordic Charge 50% off - Painkiller, Spellforce, Gothic, and so much more by TheDaftRickin GameDeals

[–]Ultravod 2 points3 points ago

I have been on a bit of a Spellforce bender recently. It plays like the derpy cousin of Warcraft II mixed with ...Titan Quest? The core game mechanics are a nice mix of RTS and RPG, and the level designs offer just the right amount of challenge without inducing ragequit. That said, the lack of polish in the game is appalling. It has some of the worst voice acting I've ever heard, and lots of it. It's like they bribed the secretary to read lines on her lunch break. Even the main hero sounds completely wooden. It's enough to drive me back to bastion and the Best Narrator In The Universe.

Save 50% on Choplifter HD on Steam $4.99 by ta1ntdudein GameDeals

The original is a classic, but this is questionable remake. As c_o_g said, TB did a WTF is? and really didn't like it.

[GoG] Interplay Blast weekend - 50% off/$2.99 for Fallout 1/2/Tactics, Freespace 1&2, etc by pull_the_other_onein GameDeals

[–]Ultravod 8 points9 points ago

Besides the obvious (Fallout) games, in the past I enjoyed:

  • The Redneck Rampage series.
  • Kingpin: Life of Crime
  • Sacrifice.

I have not played it, but Giants: Citizen Kabuto comes highly recommended. It'll be the first purchase for me.

[Steam] Daily Deal: Frozen Synapse @ $8.49 (66% off) $10.19 for the soundtrack edition by Ultravodin GameDeals

[–]Ultravod[S] -1 points0 points ago

I haven't much use for ogg files. I'm enough of a fan of the soundtrack that I'm happy to support the artist. I didn't have the problems with excess downloads that you did, but is it that hard to delete versions you don't want? Personally, I got the FLACs for archival purpose and rolled my own V0 versions.

Fallout is FREE on GOG.com for 48 hours by thinkforaminutein GameDeals

[–]Ultravod 0 points1 point ago

2 fixes some game mechanic issues that plague 1 (that may be fixed in the GoG version, I am unsure). That said, 2 is a lot bigger than 1, so if you're short on time 1 is the obvious choice. I found the plot of first game to have a tighter, more concise feel to it. I loved Fallout 2, but it's a bit sprawling.

Few things qualify as a "good old game" as much as the original Fallout does. I lost more hours to this game than I can count. I have the original 1997 boxed media for F1 and F2. I never bought the Steam versions because (A) the binaries are the same as the originals and (B) I'm not that much of Gabe's bitch.

It is my understanding that the GoG versions are patched to work with modern versions of Windows, which is a pretty big deal.
