Actually, I've been following this bill since it was introduced, for work. A lot of Republicans, especially those on the Judiciary Committee and even more especially John Kissel (R) were very much for the passing of this bill. Also, I know much of Reddit hates lobbyists, but one of the most influential voices during the public hearing was that of a former CT lobbyist who needs to use palliative marijuana. They've been trying to pass it for years, the only reason it hadn't is because there was much debate on how to implement it, not whether or not it should be done.

Note: The exception is Toni Boucher (R) who was on the extreme, trying to kill this bill. She's been against palliative marijuana for years and filibustered this bill deep into the night.
