I made my first drumming video for my old band with a GoPro. I would love to know what reddit thinks! by mayyonayzein Drumming

[–]TroutM4n 0 points1 point ago

Do you play heel down or heel up?

Also - NO pinkies out! On just that one snare single stroke roll you pinkied a little.

As far as the video - awesome. From a drummer's perspective, you made it easy for anyone who might want to cover your song to see exactly what you're doing.

Your playing skill - also pretty awesome. It was very tight, your runs were really clean and I enjoyed your overall arrangement and beat structure.

8/10 - would bang again - in fact I may try running through this when I have some time next week. Shot in the dark - did you write out sheet music?

. . . It's just a giant hookah.

Four main parts really:

  1. main chamber with hole in top and another a little to the side

  2. giant downstem in the top hole

  3. bowl on top of the stem

  4. a hose plugged into the side hole

Add water to main chamber - add shishah(or bud) to bowl - cover tightly with tinfoil and poke a lot of teeny holes in tinfoil - place a burning coal on top of tin foil - suck.

The contraption near the top includes a catch tray for ash from the coal, and it also looks like they set a big tinfoil cover over the coal to protect it from the wind.

  1. Close corporate tax loopholes
  2. outlaw gifts from lobbyists to elected officials
  3. raise taxes on the wealthy
  4. legalize marijuana
  5. ensure separation of church and state

What's the Republican stance on education and teachers? by handsome_dudein PoliticalDiscussion

[–]TroutM4n 0 points1 point ago

Have you ever had to deal with 25-40 screaming children for 200 days?

Like nursing, teaching is a job that the person has to LOVE for it's own merit, or the bullshit and average to low salary simply isn't worth the stress. I had a few teachers in high school that were obviously in it because it was just a job and they were absolutely miserable. When you had a teacher who genuinely got that rush of personal satisfaction from conveying an idea and seeing the spark of understanding in another - those were something else.

[–]TroutM4n[S] 0 points1 point ago

Of course it makes a difference.

Even if all I do is educate ONE PERSON about how marijuana is safer than alcohol and should be regulated to reduce harms, then I've made a difference that will effect the lives of others.

The mere fact that people are out, in public, talking about these issues forces people to reconsider their opinions. If we actually want to get anything done, we have to DO something.

Smoking in our living room will not accomplish anything except to get us high.

That's nice and all, considering I'm white, look presentable and have no visible tattoos, because I'm probably not going to jail for it. That does nothing to actually reduce the very real harms being caused by these drug control policies in our society.

That society exists whether you wish to participate in it or not and you're already being taxed to pay for large portions of it, so you might as well get a some small measure of opinion in how it's run.

You can't change the law by breaking it and then complaining on the internet.

You've bought hook line and sinker into the bullshit that they want you to believe - that you have no power - that you can't make a difference - that it's hopeless to even try. You're helping them to fight their losing battle.

There are two concerns that must be address to end marijuana prohibition and each is comprised of many different aspects:

  1. Public opinion

  2. Legislation

  1. Last week's Rasmussen poll showed 56% national approval for legalization with only 36% opposed - up 10% points from the same poll last year. Through public awareness events and outreach campaigns, we are slowly but surely ending the misinformation surrounding marijuana. OF COURSE the information is already there, but WE have to keep repeating it enough to undo nearly 70 years of propaganda. You don't give up just because "it have been explained thousand times" (great grammar btw).

  2. This of course includes voting for people who support your legislation, but it also include becoming active in discussions with your currently elected officials as well as writing and lobbying for legislation to reduce the harms of prohibition. This won't be addressed on a national level first - it must be addressed at the local, city, and state levels FIRST.

I prefer to focus my energy on stuff that I know will work.

What are you doing then that actually works? Please elaborate on all the time you've personally put into legalization efforts.

Personally, I've worked on organizing all the active reform groups in my state, Georgia, in order to more effectively communicate our message and achieve our goals. I've helped to organize four different events where we've had guest speakers from Georgia moms for marijuana, Law enforcement against prohibition, NORML, and others with hundreds of people in attendance.

HERE - Check out our new website Project420 that I just made for all of the reform groups in the state. Have any suggestions for it? I'm open to them.

What I'm not open to is some douche sitting at home telling me that this fight isn't worth our effort.

I am sick and fucking tired of trying to convince people who "support" our efforts to get of their damn couches and take the time to help themselves.

Fight for legalization - Or don't. I don't give a fuck. But don't you dare try to belittle those who are actually taking the time to do this while you're too lazy or stoned.

And you refuse to participate in the society of which we are all a part.

So sad.

This is the real kicker about democracy - If we don't step up and get involved, no one will look out for your interests or defend against ass holes who want to use the system to take advantage of you. If you don't stand up to defend it against them, people will bastardize the system.

And you buy into the bullshit belief that "you can't do anything about it" and you sit there and fucking take it like the little cog in the machine you are.

Enjoy giving up on life, society, and hope for establishing a better world for our progeny.

In that very specific context - sure, a lighter weight, more responsive pedal is better for live Jazz.

A team of scientists has discovered a drug, thioridazine, successfully kills cancer stem cells in the human while avoiding the toxic side-effects of conventional cancer treatments. by nomdewebin science

[–]TroutM4n -2 points-1 points ago

Cannabis.

Not in all types of cancer and not always 100% remission, but cannabinoids have been scientifically documented to reduce and even eliminate cancer growth by initiating a healthy cycle of apoptosis in the cancer cells - it turns on the trigger that makes the old cells die as they are supposed to, rather than continuing to divide and grow without limit.

This has been used on plenty of patients, even children, with incredible results.

[–]TroutM4n 1 point2 points ago

Most common drug dealing ploy in existence:

"Dealer" - Hey, I got what you want

"Dope" - Kay, here's the cash

"Dealer" - Wait right here, I'll be right back with it

"Dope" - Hmmm... it's been three hours, I wonder if he's coming back?

ANYONE that tries to pull this on you - I don't care if you've bought from them before or not - is either trying to rob you, or they are not in a financial position to be dealing... meaning they'd be more likely to take your cash anyway.

NO ONE. Is going to legalize for us. WE have to be the change we want to see in this country and to do that, it requires active participation in politics:

  1. raising public awareness

  2. contacting and lobbying elected officials

  3. Voting and encouraging others to vote

Please see Gary Johnson for more info on a presidential candidate (aside from Ron Paul) who supports ending the federal prohibition of cannabis.

WAY more people have a knee jerk reaction to seeing "fuck" in print and the vast majority of those people are the ones we actually need to convince with our arguments for legalization.

Paying attention to your public appearance and how your are perceived as you present arguments for legalization is ESSENTIAL to effectively communicating your message.

If you were put in charge of trimming Earth's human population down to 3 billion or so, what would your criteria be for who stays and who goes? by Clayburnin AskReddit

[–]TroutM4n 0 points1 point ago

I think the absolutely best solution to this question isn't mass exterminations - that's fucking moronic and would never happen.

Breeding limitations being placed on the population though? IQ and physical strength/agility requirements (yes both)? Limitation on the number of offspring (they already have this in a lot of places)?

No-one is going to suggest mass murdering half the worlds population, but prevent the idiots from reproducing and strengthen our basic genetic structure? Sure, in this hypothetical, why not.
