Redditors in a Relationship by RattsWomanin AdviceAnimals

This is too true and it sucks. We are sort of racing each other in the morning to jump on reddit first so we can be the first to present it.

Sounds expensive, but I like the first part.

I'm sorry, ever since someone pointed out that this girl looks like Harry Potter I just can't focus on anything else when I see the meme.

Grinding... by ozzymustainein gaming

[–]Transubstantive 1 point2 points ago

Grinding does very little in Dark Souls. Oh sure, you may think you are going to make things easier by grinding, but the only thing that will help is your personal knowledge of the game mechanics and the particular enemy you are facing. All the grinding in the world will do very little if you play like a moron.

How do you transport the water to the top? I'm just now getting into Minecraft and don't know much about advanced mechanics.

Actually, it's pretty well-settled fact that most Egyptian citizens were required to spend a certain percentage of their year (I forget the specific number, somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-20%) working on government projects, aka building the pyramids. Now if you want to call that slavery, go ahead, but it isn't what 99.9% of people picture.

I'm a doctor who smokes. What are some of YOUR daily hypocrisies? by SaggyBallsHDin AskReddit

[–]Transubstantive 2 points3 points ago

Ha, I tried that at my law school and then got a nasty e-mail from the school saying I would be cut off if I tried pirating anything again. And the worst part - it was for pirating the Day the Earth Stood Still (the shitty one with Keanu Reeves).

If a law passed requiring an iq/lifeskills test in order to procreate would you vote for it? by MastodonMetalin AskReddit

[–]Transubstantive 0 points1 point ago

It'd be unconstitutional in the US. Fundamental rights and all that.

Reddit, what would be your hell? by Kamigein AskReddit

Other people. Specifically, fundamentalists and arrogant morons. They'd probably hate me too so we'd all be stuck in a room together with no exit hating each other. For all eternity.

Skyrim is incredibly overrated. The final sections are just hilarious with really bad scripting all over the place. I rarely had fun with that game, rather it felt like a big to-do list with some vague idea of a payoff later that never came.

Cannabis Use during Adolescence Affects Brain Regions Associated with Schizophrenia by justsayboomin science

[–]Transubstantive 3 points4 points ago

A friend of mine was like this. Biggest toker I knew and then one day he stopped smoking because every time he did he would get paranoid about his performance in college (he was on the verge of getting kicked out). After he got off probationary status and things were on an even keel he started smoking again and the same kind of intense paranoia or panic attack would happen just like before. It's been years later and he only smokes when he is drunk, otherwise he says he can't enjoy it at all from the paranoia. Sucks.

Cannabis Use during Adolescence Affects Brain Regions Associated with Schizophrenia by justsayboomin science

[–]Transubstantive 4 points5 points ago

Besides a fear of snakes, which I think is completely rational (fuck those things), this is my only deep-seated fear. Mostly because it is completely out of my control and would be absolutely debilitating.

Cannabis Use during Adolescence Affects Brain Regions Associated with Schizophrenia by justsayboomin science

[–]Transubstantive 0 points1 point ago

It's just my worst fear - losing my mind completely. I'd rather be in horrible physical pain than experience something like dementia/Alzheimer's and especially schizophrenia. It doesn't run in my family and I don't exhibit any signs of it, but I've read too many stories of completely normal people (males especially) suddenly developing it in their 20s.

Cannabis Use during Adolescence Affects Brain Regions Associated with Schizophrenia by justsayboomin science

[–]Transubstantive 79 points80 points ago

So I tried to find what they defined as "adolescence," but was unsuccessful. Can someone help me out here? We've known for some time that cannabis affects a developing teenage brain (age 13-16), but this research is far more disturbing. I've been scared of developing schizophrenia most of my adult life, but I'm almost out of the "danger zone" (currently age 26) for males. However, I started smoking pot regularly at age 19 so this bothers me.

Pissing off reddit: what was your most down-voted comment? by trixiethesalmonin AskReddit

I made a sarcastic joke on r/gaming making fun of the PC "master race." Either they didn't understand the sarcasm or they are super serious about such challenges to their superiority.
