What are the weirdest and/or most irritating things so far that someone you knew said to you after they found out you were gay? by Skylockein actuallesbians

[–]Thimblecat 10 points11 points ago

After being asked out by a male friend and explaining to him that I'm only attracted to women:

"Oh. Well, uh... if you change your mind, you know where to find me."

Yeah, that's not gonna happen, bud.

"Are you sure?"

Pretty damn sure.

"Well, still... keep me in mind, OK?"

Same guy hit on me again a few months later and got a big lecture on, look, we've been over this, I'm a homosexual and you're still not a woman. It's. Not. Happening.

"... Are you sure?"

/facepalm

I'm a grown-ass man and opening one of these still scares the hell out of me. by Godwynnin pics

My mother still makes me open these for her every time I go home for a holiday dinner. And every god damn time they wind up punching me in the stomach.

He obviously wasn't trying to be offensive - I rarely have people react openly homophobic to me (Female homosexuality is apparently "less wrong" or at least less "scary" to them than the alternative), so since they aren't trying to be mean I usually let it slide, in the end. If I went off on every guy who said anything unintentionally offensive, well, I don't think I'd have any friends left! :P

Usually phrased a bit nicer, along the lines of "Well, if you change your mind, you know where to find me!"

But yeah... essentially the same thing, in the end. -.-

... This is going to be what plays in my head whenever this happens now.

Vwoosh! Dodged that bullet!

A huge majority of my friends are straight men for whom I'm the only "queer-o-sexual" they know - or at least the only one that's willing to tell them such to their face. So when it comes time for us to discuss this stuff... it's preeeeetty easy to tell where they got most of their information from.

The worst part is that, because I "look just SO straight! Seriously, are you sure you don't like guys?" Several of them wind up asking me out more than just the one time even after I've explained that I'm not into that. >.<

I personally don't wear dresses because I think they make my legs look weird, but nonetheless the idea that I might not be straight never crosses most people's minds unless I've actually got another girl hanging off my arm or snuggling me with her arms around my waist.

This made me laugh way more than it should have. Good show.

I know exactly how you feel. Most of the lesbians I meet seem to fall under the same category as what you're describing - And it's frustrating, because as the 'boring,' 'goody-two-shoes' type that prefers to stay in and get my work done on time to going out and getting shit-faced, it's hard to find enough in common to make a relationship seem worthwhile - if the other ladies are even interested in more than a hook-up to begin with. I'm sure there's got to be some more compatible ladies out there somewhere, though... it's just a matter of finding them.

Furry things give me allergies, but that hasn't stopped me from surrounding myself with cute. This is Bernie when she was just a couple months old. (Her colors are a lot brighter now.) She's a real sweetie pie. <3
