r/feminism, is this completely sexist or am I wrong? by ChicagoRunnerin Feminism

[–]The_Rakist 5 points6 points ago

She left the only way she could.

A human being with any ounce of empathy would realize that leaving the way she did in this situation is selfish.

That was not her only option.

Did you even read his posts?

He judged her for leaving him the way she did and at the timing that she did it.

these circumstances are so extreme and he did not even once think to put himself in the opposite gender role. He has no empathy for the woman in this situation and is looking at it through only a male lens.

Umm...

"I can understand the frustration"

I hate to jump in here but, in my opinion you are overreacting.

Agreed, you are being sensationalist. He is clearly not a sexist.

Yes, you are ugly. I'm fuck ugly too. Fuck ugly Italian brothers?

I would like some other opinions on this also, it seems people are too busy boosting the self esteem of the non ugly people.

It's funny that this comment is upvoted so much. Usually all i hear about "sensible" Christians is that they are hypocrites because they don't follow their religion.

I'm sorry i was not able to achieve your level of WTFness, will this make up for it?

When people see downvotes, they donwvote. If the first 5 or so people had upvoted, then the rest would have followed.

I actually have too, this thread seems to be full of downvotes though.

What the Church of Scientology did to my family. by Abztekhin atheism

They don't seem to be willing to respond, they would rather just downvote because they don't want to admit it. I'm glad at least two people can see that, though.

The reason your opinions aren't being accepted is because you're making it sound as if the church is innocent

You clearly didn't read my original post otherwise you wouldn't be saying this.

it's like choosing whether or not to eat a sandwich somebody else made, you say sure, and it tastes fine until you get food poisoning.

No, it's not like that at all. This actually made me chuckle.

If you're going to quote something, use the rest of the quote and don't take it out of context.

Regardless, she made it clear that he wanted to impress him so it is safe to assume that he reached out to his father first, thus rendering your argument invalid.

The reason my opinions aren't being "accepted" is because this subreddit gets a hard on when they see a post being downvoted. I'm willing to bet that if the first 5 people that saw my post upvoted, my opinions would be "accepted".

join these sorts of things don't know what they're getting into. And not because of lack of research or judgement

Oh, Bullshit. That is exactly the reason they don't know what they are getting into because of their lack of research and discretion. Of course they aren't going to say "we are going to take all your money".

If i enlist in the military thinking that i'm just going to be drinking at bars and blowing shit up only to be heart broken when i have to fill up sand bags and wash the head, it is my fault not the military's fault.

by no means did he "Do this to himself".

Read this comment. "wanted to impress him and whatnot" The father didn't say "Hey come and join this church" given the info that the OP has presented it is likely that he joined because he wanted to prove something to his father, meaning he did so by his own will.

By all means, it was his choice nobody else.

You put it very rudely

How so?

Somebody pointed out how i called her a "little girl" and i apologized that was rather jackassish of me. There seems to be a thin line between direct and rude.

Sorry, i just reread the comic. I thought she said that she was 16, but she said "i was 16 then". Didn't mean to seem like an ass.

[–]The_Rakist 2 points3 points ago

How did you come to that conclusion?

Given the context the only thing the father had to do with it was calling his mother. You can't possibly be suggesting that he dragged him from his dorm down to the church. He was 18, legally he could do whatever he wanted and he chose to go to that church.

You may be right considering i don't see many Atheists arguing in public but i don't think it's fair to say that considering this glorious subreddit.

Going around and trying to convert people or telling them they are going to hell is being a dick. Alternatively so is trying to tell people they are wrong every waking moment of your life.

Education was never mentioned in the constitution. I agree with the sentiment of this post but it is very misleading to put schools so close to our state.

I disagree, he did this to himself. It was ultimately his choice to join this stupid church nobody forced him to do it. If we can take the OPs word as truth then we can assume he was a bright young man. He made the choice, nobody else.
