Tim & Eric's work reminds me A LOT of this film. I can see it being their biggest inspiration. by haprdgnin TimAndEric

I've always seen it as some sort of mashup between David Lynch, Freddie Got Fingered, and Repo Man

There's a family (friends of my parents) with the last name "Walker". They named their dog Lucas, and gave him the middle name "Skyler"

Who do you dislike that Reddit loves? Personally, I think Richard Dawkins is an ass, and I'm an atheist. by Pistachio_handlerin AskReddit

[–]The_Kenosha_Kid 1 point2 points ago

You're right, the phrase itself has died out (thank god), but I still see it sometimes. Last week was the last time I saw it.

What I'm against is the whole mentality that phrase represents. I just used that phrase cause it's an easy way to let people know what I mean. I probably could have said "eternal september" too. I just hate the contempt some people seem to have for new users or "refugees". Like reddit is a little secret club or something.

The whole "when does the Narwhal bacon" thing just makes me cringe. Reddit isn't a small, close community anymore. If you meet a Redditor in "real life", it's not that weird. Reddit is fucking huge now, and that's a great thing. Who cares if /r/pics and /r/funny piss you off? Unsubscribe, and the problem is immediately solved!

What exactly is Baker saying here? OPS is terrible? Or good? by hova9in Mariners

[–]The_Kenosha_Kid 0 points1 point ago

I think he's saying it's important (he never outright says it, but his mention of OBP and SLG implies it I think), but at the same time he believes that the front office cares more about the actual runs themselves, not stats like OPS.

No one stat is the be-all, end all.

This I believe is his main point.

What's the worst time you've ever accidentally hit someone. by faceplantedin AskReddit

[–]The_Kenosha_Kid 1 point2 points ago

When I was about 8, me and my little sister (6 years old) were jumping on our trampoline "playing pokemon". Basically it was just Calvinball, except you yell out random names of pokemon. good times.

Things escalated, and during one of our "battles" I got carried away and starting swinging. I ended up punching her in the mouth, and her tooth sliced my knuckle.

Yep. The only real scar I have on my body is from punching a 6-year-old girl in the face. Real proud of that one...

Ahh that makes a lot more sense.

I thought Hank was relevant to this specific video, and I just couldn't find any connection whatsoever.

thanks

Which actor has "died" in the most movies? Has anyone ever done research on this? by The_Kenosha_Kidin AskReddit

Both.

The answer cause it's just not something I've ever considered before. Guesses cause it's interesting to see who people thought.

Well I am interested in the answer. I'm just more interested in speculation and discussion, that type of stuff.

Googling takes the fun out of it, honestly. I want to hear speculation and theories probably more than I want to know the answer.

I'm guessing this is an in-joke of some kind, right?

A note to the mods: Can we add to the rules "no posts in which it's obvious you should call the police?" by loprasin AskReddit

[–]The_Kenosha_Kid 7 points8 points ago

YES PLEASE

I assume 99% of these submissions are fake, just like that joke on bash.org about "help my room is on fire" or something like that. After a while nobody believes it. Which means if someone is actually in trouble they're just gonna get a bunch of scolding and/or joke responses.

would you ever get a tattoo from a shop with such a hostile attitude toward the neighborhood? | by getalonglittledoggyin Seattle

[–]The_Kenosha_Kid 2 points3 points ago

Doesn't seem that bad to me. Nobody ever gets offended by "no loitering" signs, and this is basically exactly that.

I'm assuming the sign is correct and there isn't a bus stop. If there actually is a stop there then yeah I agree it's pretty douchey

That song you love that nobody else "gets"... by brocolitimein LetsTalkMusic

[–]The_Kenosha_Kid 1 point2 points ago

I think most of you would agree that The Smashing Pumpkins' Machina isn't one of their best, but I still love the flow of tracks 3/4/5/6 (Stand Inside Your Love, I of the Mourning, The Sacred and Profane, Try Try Try)

I love the atmosphere of those songs, and they just seem to flow so perfectly. I'm not sure why, just something about it makes sense to me. I dunno, maybe it's just nostalgia taking over, but I love the unique sound that Machina has. It's a shame Billy Corgan never followed through on his "Grand concept album" idea. It would have been interesting to see what he could have come up with.

Here's Try, Try, Try. My favorite song of the 4. (Be warned though, the music video is aggressively sad. Obviously they were dead-set on making the most depressing music video of all time)

How many of you think Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know", is just a cleaned up and more whiny version of Eamon's "Fuck It, I Don't You Back"? by jholiman2012in AskReddit

[–]The_Kenosha_Kid 0 points1 point ago

Ehh not really. The subject matter is similar and the chord progressions are close, but no closer than a lot of other pop songs.

I want MLB to go to the relegation system. by glyserinesoulin baseball

[–]The_Kenosha_Kid 5 points6 points ago

"Ditch the farm system"?

How would that even work? They would have to completely re-do the entire draft process. Each team drafts, what, about 50 guys a year right? Where would they all go? Would the MLB draft become more like the NFL and NBA, with just a few rounds? That would be a disaster...19 year old pitchers being forced to play in the majors with little to no experience. And what about international free agents and prospects?

Plus, there's the whole issue of minor league stadiums. Even the best and most successful AAA teams can't compete with the worst MLB teams in terms of attendance and media contracts.

I'm sorry if I'm coming across as a dick...I'm trying to understand this but I just don't see it going smoothly at all.
