Thoughts on pedals? by rimaguyin Guitar

[–]TheJazzmaster 1 point2 points ago

Just an addenium on yours, a better overdrive is the Fulltone OCD; gives overdrive bite while retaining the sweet (or not so sweet) sound from your amp.

And a viable alternative for the EHX Memory man is the Boss Digital Delay series (Boss DD-3, Boss DD-7), as it's always put up in discussions based on Delays. Also the Digitech Digital Delay, another option, and contains a looper, which you'll need to pay an extra $100 to just get from Boss alone on just one pedal.

As always, I say that the Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi's are always the most popular Fuzz-type distortion pedal for a good reason (Hendrix, Santana, Gilmour, J Mascis, Moore, Corgan, Frusciante, Jack White). And if you ever plan on buying one, try seeing if you can get a Large Beaver kit from BYOC; it's a build your own kit for one of the best models of Muff ever made (Triangle and Ram's Head, two of the earliest models and most beloved of the vintage) and has clear detailed instructions.

As for current models, there are the Bass Big Muff, which is based on a Russian Model (more gain, dirtier, bassier) and has a blend setting so you can mix the dry (un-distorted) and wet (distorted) signals to get a more over-drive type tone. And there are the Big Muff Pi USA Reissue, sounds like a classic big muff, but there are people who say it sounds thicker and less clear than vintage units, so take caution. There's the Little Big Muff, a regular USA reissue muff in a much smaller package (people says it sounds treble-ier, which can also be an issue). And the Big Muff Pi with tone wicker, my personal unit; sounds like a regular LBM with the tone-bypass switch on, and wicker off. With tone-bypass off, it does exactly what it says on the tin, bypasses the tone knob, creating a louder, clearer, thicker tone which is very very useful. With the wicker on, it bypasses a series of capacitors, making the pedal sound clearer; which is useful when you roll down the tone or sustain knobs, as it gets quite muddy below ten o'clock.

For other fuzz pedals, which I'll admit I'm not as knowledgeable about, there are a variety of options. There's the Blackout Effectors Musket Fuzz, based on a Russian muff, and has more knobs than a 60's computer, so a HUGE variety of tones; but I don't like it because I prefer simpler pedals. Then there's the Fuzz Face, currently made by Dunlop, which is a BMP alternative for people who feel that the Muff is too intense or over-the-top. And then the Way-Huge Swollen Pickle, also made by Dunlop, is another Fuzz Pedal, more like the BMP in terms of intensity and gain, but has much more range in terms of tone. It has five knobs on the front, and two more located inside of the housing; which again I don't like because I like simple pedals. But that said, it's very highly praised by many people, so if you don't mind complexity, then go all for it.

Yeah, but you have to be kinda buddy-buddy with the managers; and even then there's some kind of cost involved.

They really need more Duncan. Him and Jeff are supposed to be friends (to a degree), yet you never see him at all. Plus he's John Oliver, the second most charming british man ever seen in America (the first being Sephen Merchant).

"Refusing to uphold law" sounds like a very good reason for an officer to get fired. There are many douchebag officers, and there are may officers that are good and kind people; with wives, children, morgages, and taxes that they all need to pay and they do so by doing his duty via "protecting" and serving (even if it means doing to opposite). So an officer has the choice of upholding prohibition, keep his job -and income- safe; or ignore the laws regarding prohibition, have a fellow officer, higher-up, or anybody else hear about it, have an investigation pulled on him, and lose his job (and possibly blacklisted from other police forces) and secure income, all the while he can sleep safely knowing his conscience is safe.

And I say this as a person who supports legalization. But sometimes a person's gotta eat, and not always does that always include doing the right thing.

That's like saying, "I started listening to music with Radio, and I can confirm that it was garbage."

Squier has some [relatively] good guitars, but the fact that you use on of their lower end models as the benchmark is just cherry picking. The Classic Vibe line and Vintage Modified lines are all very good guitars for their price, comparable to the MIM Fenders (how you view MIM Fenders though is up to yourself) if I say so myself.

Edit: Though I'll note that my first guitar was a Squier Standard Strat and I'll admit that it's sub-par, but I still think that it was exactly what I should have expected from a $200 guitar.

In the book of iambeaker; Created a religion over a ROLL¹, met some tROLLs², principal just lol'd³.

And so we must always remember to follow in the steps of iambeaker; find the roll in ourselves and others, hold off against those who choose to persecute ourselves as sent by our dinner and saviour, and our principals shall raise our spirits to the great basket where the ROLLs inside us shall keep us warm as we wait to be served and revered just like we have done so to the great ROLL.

We tell eachother to fuck off and insult eachother because men close themselves off. The moment you stop acting phoney, and tell dudes what you really think of them; that's when you know they trust you enough to not be offended.

The other reason why is because we like being funny, and irony is the single best tool for humor.
