How do I keep my code in one place, and easy to edit from multiple pc's? by threelitein learnprogramming

[–]TheAlphaNerd 1 point2 points ago

You can simplify this by setting up a reverse shell on a mediary server.

So....

1) Connect from home computer to external server to setup reverse shell

ssh -f -C -q -N -R 12345:localhost:22 user@server.com

2) From external computer connect to external server using shh

ssh user@server.com

3) From external server ssh to the home computer through the reverse shell

ssh -p 12345 user@localhost

In Calgary, Mayor Dave Bronconnier celebrated the drink's anniversary by declaring May 13, 2009 as Caesar Day in the city

Guess its time to drink some Caesar's

Has anyone started learning programming in their mid 20's? How did it go? Also, how do you get over the regret that you never started earlier? Any tips? by BradSVin learnprogramming

well color me purple, I thought it was at CCRMA every year. Sounds like a good excuse to go to Austria. Guess I'll have to find a way to get involved in a research project that will send me :P

Not this year... I'm on the other side of the continent, and it was during the final week of my undergrad. I have a feeling I'll be at the next one though :D

I propose a beer fuelled hackathon. by aster1skin Torontoevents

There are two imacs set up in the space to hack on... and a very simple api that i've designed for doing the synthesis... but with that being said it would be very very easy to make your own synth patch's in pd or supercollider that run on the speaker, and then have any number of different interfaces controlling it

I started programming 3 years ago when I went back to university. Did I mention I went to art school? Now I am a practicing artist with code being my primary medium. I'm doing Google Summer of Code this summer, being paid by google to work on open source projects. I'm then off to grad school in the fall at a top 10 school for a music / programming based degree.

Check out Udacity.com for their free computer science courses. My main advice would be to not focus on a particular language... languages are merely syntax to describe higher order functions and ideas. Try learning some computer science, a little bit can go a long way.

Also get yourself a virtual server, get LAMP running, and get your own wordpress blog up and running on it. Challenge: do it all from the command line. Make this summer project happen and do some of the free available online courses and you will be doing great.

Edit: I'm 27 years old

I'd be down. My background is mostly in visual based languages (max/msp and pure-date) but as of late I've been getting into python and javascript... making web apps with node.js... and doing some linux admin stuff too.

Been mussing about with embedded linux as well... currently have a beagleboard, and there is a raspberry pi in the mail.

If anyone is around this weekend I have a hackable art installation showing at OCAD graduate exhibition in room 343
